Well, I finished Owlboy after probably a week leaving it near the end. I would not recommend it at its current price, though, but those are simply my own feelings. I thought it might have more of an emotional impact on me, but I just didn’t feel all that much for its characters or story. I think most of what I enjoyed were the Boguins in the game and they are dumb and silly :(

The gameplay was nice enough, though. Onwards.. to SG wins for a change of pace then.

Interesting…the trailer with its nice music and cute graphics makes it seem like it would be a pretty good game (assuming the gameplay is acceptable). Maybe only so-so, then.

I have a friend who says it’s one of the best games she’s played in years. I think it’s just preference :)

I haven’t played it but I’m the same as op, It looks like it would have a great emotional story. Id be disappointed to that it didn’t so I’m glad I know now

I think it’s simply because there is not enough character interaction, development and experiences to build up something emotional, and a very limited journey where it’s basically hard for me to feel too much for the characters to say it was emotionally moving. Of course, that only applies to me.. it does depend on the person, but I’ve definitely been more moved by other games much more than Owlboy.

A very random example was I thought Illusion of Gaia for the SNES was more moving (honestly really emotional at times), but maybe that isn’t fair.. I don’t know, but the game was definitely a journey with its cast of characters.

I hope you know I wasn’t going against you I was just replying to Trent that it seemed mixed among a lot of people I know :)

I’m actually glad you brought it up because I would have been disappointed expecting an emotional journey like you did.

Jiseru

I definitely didn’t take it way, but strangely felt maybe I should have expanded my thoughts a bit on why I didn’t feel it wasn’t very emotional for me.

I made a short reply below, but it may not really answer anything. Personal opinion and all. I thought the gameplay was acceptable but it also plays like a twin stick shooter trying to aim one direction while moving in the opposite direction while shooting. I was just fighting with myself to shoot in one spot while trying to dodge at times. I think that was more my fault than the game, though.

Trent

Ugh…I’m abysmal at twin stick shooters. I would probably fail badly at this game. ;-)

I don’t think it’s anything crazy like a game that would advertises one as a twin stick shooter. I think you would be okay. Timing is pretty lenient, but I always found myself taking a hit when I was thinking how to aim and dodge for some reason.

All I had to do was hold/tap R2 and then move around aiming at the enemy.. but sometimes the mind works in different ways (and then I took damage)
