Hi, first post on here, though I’ve been on the platform for a little while now! With work and studying, I haven’t had a huge amount of time for my backlog titles (also been playing some titles off of Steam), but I want to make a first step on here and share progress regardless. These are my main bits of progress over the last couple months.
I'm a pretty inexperienced Sonic gamer, having really only played through Unleashed and some of Mania, but I quite enjoyed most of this game. I had the most fun with 2D Sonic levels, but that's mostly because I was having a skill issue with my movement on 3D Sonic. I will be honest though, the story was not particularly engaging, but for gameplay, I really enjoyed many of the missions.
Unfortunately, the most annoying level was the final boss for me, as not only did my game bug (sending me miles away from the boss and wasting time), the NPCs repeat the same lines about the boss' attacks.. like 25 times minimum during the fight, lol. The actual gameplay of it was a slog to me as well, which is too bad, since I actually had fun with the previous bosses (even if they were easy).
Even if my comments are largely on the negatives, the game was a lot more good than bad, and both gameplay modes are a blast when you actually get moving. (I liked Sonic Unleashed so my opinion is already wrong lol)
Decent enough puzzle platformer, nice visuals and a fun (most of the time) concept. Honestly I would've been happy if the game was a bit longer, and actually had some more rooms to just mess around and have fun with the physics. I didn't enjoy the boss fights as much as the puzzles, and there were several points where I felt like restarting a fight or puzzle multiple times wasted more time than necessary (even despite the game's short length).
Was skeptical of the initial pitch, but honestly had a blast with (most of) the game! Fighting bosses and enemies feels really great, and I enjoy the character abilities, adding a new ripple to gameplay. Most of the new bosses are fun to me, and a few of them are horrible and evil (me problem).
The main thing I wish it had is a couple more modes of play. Maybe a simple boss rush/replay mode, and one that lets you just.. explore? I know it's the whole gameplay loop, but I'm a stop and smell the roses Souls player, so I do wish I could slow down and just take my time if I wanted.
Just a couple small things to do for the full completion, and I'm excited to see if they add any more content in the future!
Yeah, you just break stuff and it's really fun. Started playing again with the multiplayer update, and it is a very welcome change! Some missions feel easy because of it, but the reduced timer helps balance it properly.

Sonic has always had this weird gameplay issue, I feel it never knows what it wants to be. It was true for the 2D games back in the 16-bit platforms, where you would have a level where you go blazing fast followed by one where you have to wait for slow platforms or go through water that feels like molasses. Once it became a 3D game, it was again a bit directionless, but differently. I remember playing one game for the PS2 (unsure which one) and it felt like a button mashing. There was lots of combat, but combat was homing into enemies and nothing more. Sonic is one of those franchises that I always tried to like because it was hype, but that always fell flat for me
Welcome and congrats on your beaten games!
