Alright. July is in the books. We had the Willow Fire threatening the town I live in for a chunk of July, but it’s no longer as close by and is largely contained until the snows come and completely put it out. Anyway, decent month for gaming overall. Eriksholm was definitely the standout title, and Decade was super interesting. It was also nice to close out the Avadon series.

July Completions

Avadon 3: The Warborn

36.8 hours, 15 of 30 achievements
Not nearly as good as the other games in the series, but still a decent conclusion to the overarching story.

The Backrooms: Liminal space

0.8 hours, no achievements
This is of the walking sim variety of liminal spaces games. It was okay-ish.

Liminal Lane

0.6 hours, no achievements
Another walking sim liminal spaces game. This one I enjoyed. It had an eye towards fun with tons of movie and pop culture references throughout, and a couple decent anomaly puzzles mixed in.

Metal Garden

3.4 hours, 3 of 9 achievements
This was an excellent megastructure game and a decent FPS as well. Very cool idea for both world building and lore.

Goblin Solitaire

4.3 hours, no achievements
It's straight solitaire with no frills, but some fun card designs.

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream

12.8 hours, 42 of 45 achievements
Excellent story, linear but fun iso stealth, sweet sweet graphics, great voice acting. This is one of those memorable games you get to enjoy every so often.

SCP - Mystery Man

3.6 hours, no achievements
This was a really cool investigation game that requires real life investigations from the player via web searching. Neat game, cool concept.

Decade

3.6 hours, 15 of 20 achievements
This was an excellent CYOA game featuring node-based exploration via time travel through different times and timelines, altering history as you go. Super cool.

July Retirements

  1. The Underground Man - The dialogue here was an f’in embarrassment
  2. Within the Backrooms - It’s got a decent liminal spaces concept, but is also a buggy mess
  3. Nothmere - The UI was so terrible with this game, I didn’t want to continue, despite there being a real game here.
  4. Wasteland With Robots - Unplayable mess.
  5. Underrail - I really want to play this, but it had some issues with the game not recognizing the game borders in windowed and full screen mode that made it unplayable currently.
  6. The Lonely Helmet - Pretty meh platformer. Delisted.
  7. Liminal - Not actually a liminal spaces game. Not really. It’s more like an anomaly game. But also abandoned and broken.
  8. Aliens: Fireteam Elite - Also a buggy mess. It’s actually a fun game, but the bugs just got cumbersome, so we retired this n favor of other co-op games. Maybe I’ll go back at some point and solo the remainder of the campaign. But maybe not.

Plans for August

I’m currently playing a couple games: Mistfall Hunter, FatalZone, and Goblin and Recipes: Match-3 Adventure. Plus, my co-op friends have moved back to Serious Sam for now, lol. So that as well (Serious Sam 3). FatalZone is a decent bullet heaven. Not sure how long I’ll play it, but it’s fun for now. Mistfall Hunter is a PvPvE extraction medieval game. So far, it’s almost straight up a Dark Souls clone outside of the aforementioned extraction aspect, but also decent so far. GnR is pretty meh, but a couple levels at a time is a decent way to kill some time. So, I’ll continue with all of the above. after that, IDK. We’ll see.
