I cannot go through the suffering again...

Gone Home. What a game. What a terrible game.

I was going to play through it again for the monthly theme, but at five minutes in I decided I would not put myself through the boredom of completing it again. I’m sorry, but the agony is too much. I really tried, but I cannot do it.

Now, on to some better games…

I was thinking of playing it, but I’ve been holding it off for a while. Is it really that bad? Even for a two hour game?

The problem is that everyone either loves it or hates it, thus making the answer to your question a difficult one. I would definitely argue that it is a blatant waste of time and heavily overpriced, however you may genuinely enjoy it.

When someone says ‘the game is an emotional roller-coaster’, I tend to think they were pressured into having to say it was good because, well, ‘art’ and ‘atmosphere’.

Seeming as it is already in your library (I think), you may want to give it a go. You could enjoy it, but just read this comment I found:

Boring, overrated, and absurdly anticlimactic. The “game” leads you to believe something interesting will happen, when in fact you’re just wandering around your parents’ empty house reading about the protagonist’s little sister’s life. Definitely not worth $20.

Yea I saw that review. I didn’t buy the game thankfully, but it is one of the first games I won on SG.
I will try it at some point but I guess I’m in no rush to “suffer” :P

I absolutely loved Gone Home. I think it largely depends on what type of games you like playing. It certainly offers nothing regarding “action”, blowing things up, state of the art graphics etc. but does provide an interesting story line, atmosphere & for me an emotional response. If the latter is not for you then no point playing it.

I never say no to a story rich game, so I will try it out. It’s just two hours anyways. Thanks for info!

It really doesnt depend on preference necessarily. I very much enjoy walking simulators and story driven adventures, and yet I felt Gone Home was one of the more boring and cliched things I had experienced in gaming.

It is definitely a YMMV thing though for sure.

If you didn’t like it, why were you going to replay it? Seems like a waste of time imo. :s

Men do crazy things for the monthly theme…

Ghostie

Just the men…? I’ll leave you guys to it then. :)

I actually identify as a citrus, and I find your words offensive. (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง

My apologies citrus-kin, I hope not to be too unacceptable. ;)
