Finished Gone Home. (2nd game for the monthly theme)
Not much of a game, more one of those interactive experiences, one of those that leaves you with a lump in the throat.

First thing first: how rich are they?? Their house’s huge!
Don’t know what to say.. house is filled with lot of stuff and objects to interact with, it’s clear they put lof of effort in creating it.
The story is centered on mature/adult themes, with a very plausible scenario and I ended up kind of identifying with the protagonist (hence why the lump) even if I basically have nothing in commmon.
If you don’t mind games where you don’t have to kill anyone, I’d say give it a try (perhaps get it on sale, as it may be a bit overpriced), it’s short and feels so real (kudos to the dubbers).
Also, don’t know if it’s an issue of my laptop but the frame-rate kept dropping to 10-20 fps, which is not a problem in these kind of games but it’s still a bit tedious.

Subtract about 4h of farming from the total gameplay.

This was an sg win!

The opinions of this game are quite divisive. I liked playing it, but I understand those who say it falls a bit short. One thing is for sure, the $20 regular price is too much.

It’s been a while since I played it, but I remember there was a sort of side-story in that game that you could unfold by finding some letters etc.?

malabagaa

It could be.. there are a lot of things to read/see, about the past of all the family members. they looked to me as separate events though, maybe I missed some and didn’t get the narrative thread..

I think that’s because the story is a bit “uncommon” for a videogame and people don’t like when they get something different.

Heiluri

I was first interested in Gone Home, but lost interest into it after looking price tag on steam and on markets. 2 hours “gameplay” as walking simulator don’t sound good when price is that high. Still these games are nice to play at evening in one sitting if have enough time and if they give you the right feeling :)

malabagaa

Yup, price is high.
You could always try your luck at sg though ;)

Heiluri

I think i have joined few of them and there might be some running at the moment, but maybe Lady Fortuna will be on my side once again :)

malabagaa

hehee, good luck then! ;)

Heiluri

Thanks! She did already bless me with Please Don’t Touch Anything and had a blast for few hours with it :D

malabagaa

Wow, congratz!
That game looks pretty good! :D

Heiluri

Thanks! :D I was in fact surprised how well it was made. Certainly can recommend it :) Seems like it has been updated with more content twice or thrice, that always get bonus points to Devs :)

malabagaa

Almost bought it during summer sales but in the end I chose to fight the backlog.. there will be other chances to get it =P

Heiluri

Certainly there will be! :) My backlog did grow up quite much in last two months, trading and winning on sg does wonders. Had probably only 10 games left while ago on backlog.

malabagaa

Yup, hoping christmas sale will be better!

Oh, if you also add games being given away “for free”, backlog turns huge even before you notice =P

Heiluri

For me it seems like steamsales are getting badder and more badder as time goes by :( But maybe they will make better one on halloween or christmas.

I don’t activate that shite on my account :D Well there is good ones like Q.U.B.E: Director’s Cut. Got it from free from sg and also Walden and the Werewolf and Enclave. I don’t like to fill my account those games, all freebies i got from bundles i gave away in sg even though they had cards :)

malabagaa

To hope doesn’t hurt =P

Well, I do. Mostly because steamwallet and tremorcoins are the only methods to buy games available to me atm.
But that 15-days-lock really killed my market activity :( (sold only 9 cards since it got activated, 5 of which during summer sales) :(

ShandyAndy

Whilst I am a big fan of Gone Home I would concur that the price tag is probably too much. I won it at SG, hence this wasn’t an issue for me. However, I wish there were a lot more games of this quality with just a few hours game play as the vast bulk of games are simply too long IMHO and few can keep my interest enough to enjoy & complete - this was a rare exception.

malabagaa

YAY for sg win! :D
A problem of mine too. I have too many games started and never finished. I think I’ve never reached the end of an open-world RPG :\ (do exist open-world games not RPG?)

Ghostie

I heard that huge houses are fairly typical in certain parts of the US but you’re right it’s massive. :O

It’s really is overpriced but who buys games outside of bundles and discounts these days anyway… :3

malabagaa

They have a music room! filled with vinyls! and a library! and a greenhouse! and much more! and exlamation marks!! =P

You’re right but there are people (mostly out of sg) who still get games at full-price (must be people who lives in houses like the one on the game)
