Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest is done and dusted. It was a fun turn based tactical combat game ala XCOM, but with a fantasy setting, a somewhat campy story, some nice graphics, and just a cool all around vibe. Nice party based system with some really cool abilities and some nice maps. Took about 15 hours to finish all available quests. Definitely recommended for fans of the genre.

I remember hearing quite a few who were not very fond of it near launch, but reviews seem to have moved to “very positive” since. Wonder if that’s because they fixed things, or if it was not just what people expected the creators of Legend of Grimrock to make.

Difficult to say. By my mind, the fact that it gets direct comparisons to XCOM rather than a more overarching, “it’s part of the genre”, treatment, may have something to do with it. It doesn’t have any real sense of urgency like XCOM, for example. Also not really much replayability. Taken on its own, as part of that XCOM tactical genre though, I think it is enjoyable.
