NEW YEAR. NEW FOCUS.

I've got a plan and I'm not afraid to use it

In recent months I feel I've got a few more time to focus on the objectives I've set forth.
Although I've derailed completely from my 1st Year Dad Plan, I am enjoying some new games.

At the end of the year it seems that I've placed myself into a JRPG bubble and I just existed it with Clair Obscur: Expedion 33, right on the 31st of December.
This year, I've started with quite a difficult game... Hollow Knight. I intend to complete it as anything else, but please bare with me as this is a tough one.
Other than that, I'll try to explore some massive large open worlds. Maybe Red Dead Redemption 2 or AC: Valhalla... or both?

Awesome plan, Vash! I played RDR2 for the Steamgifts Magazine (a gift from xxxka) and it took me around 144 hours to feel finished with it. I have done the Epilogue (it’s a must) but haven’t really engaged with any of the map that opens up after beating the game, so there’s still a decent chunk of game for me to return eventually. It’s such a beautiful and well made game, once you get used to the slower pace of it, it becomes almost therapy

As for Hollow Knight, be kind to yourself. It’s a brutal game even if you’re not going for 100% (my case), and I cannot even imagine how difficult and frustrating it must be to go through the Path of Pain or the God’s Pantheon just chasing that completion badge. I personally struggled a lot with some mainline encounters like the Soul Master, Nosk and the Broken Vessel, and literally decided to stop chasing the side content once I fought Grimm a few times and realized it was a no go. Good luck!

I will honestly try my very best to complete it. Maybe I’ll have phases where I drop it, then get back to it, drop it again, and then return once more. It’s the type of game that requires a lot of “getting good,” and I feel like if I keep hammering away at it nonstop, I’ll eventually burn out. I don’t want to be the type who drops a game just because it’s too tough to complete. I’ve had a couple of games like that before, but eventually I managed to beat them, just nothing to the degree of what Hollow Knight is.

I do feel like it’s doable; I just think some bosses require a lot of pattern learning, and eventually I’ll get the hang of it and push through. Now, I don’t know how complicated it is to reach 120% completion, as one of the achievements requires, but I know for sure it will take a lot of time and a lot of going back and forth.

I was trying to mix it up with Red Dead Redemption 2, mainly because Hollow Knight doesn’t really have a story to compensate in the same way. However, now that I’ve added a voice mod to make the characters actually speak, I think it’s going to improve my overall experience with the game.

Ohhh voice mod? Very interesting, I imagine that does wonders for the game if the voice acting is good. I’ll definitely try it if I ever play through it again!

Vasharal

It actually is done by professionals.
Check it out!

So. Cool. Although I’d disable item description and stuff if I could. A disembodied voice sounds odd hahaha

Vasharal

Yes, you can for item descriptions. I don’t mind it.
