Happy New Years!!!

I hope everyone has a great year and makes a huge dent in their backlogs!

I haven’t updated my status in a few months and that’s mostly because while I have been playing a fair amount of games, I have only finished one or two. So here’s an update on what has been going on the past few months (And I’m using pictures for the first time too! I hope I format it right…).

Beaten

WD

I really enjoyed this game, I liked the main character Aiden Pearce. He’s boring, but he’s intimidating, to the point, and maybe a little sociopathic (like Batman, no one calls him boring though). The game is really dark and that worked in its favor. The story missions were great, the side content was not unfortunately. Playing with a texture mod made the game look beautiful, I was really impressed with the graphics after modding it. This game is also top notch when it comes to special effects, especially explosions. It’s not the best game but I think it’s a lot better than people say it is as long as you don’t think about the story too much.

Sniper Challenge

A fun little mission that I played a couple of times, interesting setup to Absolution. It took maybe 15 minutes to finish the mission a few times.

Unfinished/Currently Playing

Hitman

Cool game, it wasn’t at all what I was expecting after seeing so much of the new Hitman’s gameplay. My biggest gripe with the game is how broken the disguise system is. Otherwise it’s good fun, I hope I get the motivation to finish it.

W3

I think this is my new favorite game. I absolutely adore it. It has to be one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played too, sometimes I like to just run around and take in all the sights. Also I am officially addicted to Gwent, the card minigame that everyone loves so much. This game is pretty much a must play, everything about it is great, especially the story and characters.

TR

Really good game, I’m not a huge fan of the action sequences but I love the tombs that you can explore. I’m having the same problem with it as I am with Absolution in that even though I enjoy playing it, I never feel like playing it. I hope I finish it.

WD2

I have been eagerly awaiting this game since it was announced, and I’m really happy to say that it’s a decent game. I’m not far in enough to judge the story too much but it seems to be a really fun, lighthearted story which is a refreshing change. The graphics are pretty lackluster and I’m having framerate issues, but that’s no big deal. It’s definitely more fun than its predecessor, but I’m not sure which one I prefer yet. I haven’t played a lot of the GTA games, but I can still confidently say that this is the most alive world I have seen, it’s very impressive.

Abandoned

W1

Great game that I fully intend to play again, I just wanted to play Witcher 3 more. I know for sure that while I abandoned this playthrough, I haven’t abandoned the game.

And that’s it! Unfortunately this year is going to be a busy one for me so I don’t know how much backlog assassinating I’ll be able to do, but I’ll try my best! Also, I noticed we can’t change our bios anymore, what’s up with that?

Happy New Year!

You can change your bio in settings.

Good luck finishing Hitman and Tomb Raider - I highly recommend that you do :P! Sometimes you just gotta grind em out. I’m not sure I ever feel like not playing a game like that unless I really dislike it (e.g. Far Cry 2).

Thanks for the link!

I think my problem is the fact I’m trying to play 4 pretty big games at the same time and I haven’t done that before, I need to tone it down a bit. I really love both games, it’s so strange that I never feel like playing them! I think I’ll take your advice of just forcing myself to play them anyway.

I’m not sure how people manage to play so many at once. Usually I stick to 2 games - 1 being a single player game and the other being a multiplayer game that I always play (i.e. Rainbow Six Siege). That way, I don’t get burnt out or overwhelmed and I can dedicate all my energy to that one single player game and experience all it has to offer. To each their own, though.

Forsaken

Awesome games selection!!! I understand the broken disguise system in Hitman Absolution but everything became better (also more frustrating due to difficulty) when I imagined in my head that the game made it mandatory to play in “suit only” mode. So I just played it that way, wearing disguises already feels like you are doing a suit only run anyway which is a fun thing to do in Hitman games in my opinion :P

I liked Watch Dogs no matter what anyone says. Yes I had lots of criticisms and the game had problems but it was really enjoyable for me! I liked Aiden Pierce as well! It’s so refreshing to see something positive being said about the game for once!

Witcher 3 is my current addiction. I’m doing a NG+ Deathmarch run (I need Deathmarch achievement), but the twist is that I’m doing it as naked Geralt. I’m using no armours at all :D It’s so hilarious!

Happy gaming, keep enjoying those great games.

Playing suit only is really rewarding, it makes me feel like I’m actually good at stealth games! I’ve done the majority of levels suit only, since like you said, disguises are pretty much redundant anyway and instinct is more or less useless. Overall it’s such a cool game, I keep hearing bad things about it from fans of the Hitman games but I don’t see the problems (aside from the disguise issue). Bonus points to the game for having a beautiful art style.

Another person that liked Watch Dogs, thank you! It took me ages to finish because I burned myself out trying to do all the side content: the collectibles, fixer contracts, gang hideouts, etc etc. After I dropped most of that stuff I had a great time with the game! Even though I’m a stealth player, that shootout with T-bone was some of the most fun I have had playing a video game. When I started WD2 I expected Aiden to be a part of the main story and was very disappointed to find out he just had a cameo in a short side mission.

I’m addicted too, 90 hours in and I only got to Novigrad the other day after clearing out the entirety of Velen. But wow, I can’t even imagine playing on deathmarch, that must be so punishing, RIP you. I can just see being killed over and over again by a single drowner. And playing as naked Geralt? Challenging, funny, and easy on the eyes. That’s a good idea, I have to try that.

Happy gaming to you too, have a great new year!

Sadly I don’t have Watch Dogs 2 but I watched a video of Aiden’s little side mission. It was really well done, I really liked seeing him in the 2nd game even if his involvement was not for long.

I liked Absolution as well. I didn’t hate it at all. I definitely see the problems with the game and I understand that disguises are completely broken but I have my fun in suit only anyway so it didn’t matter much to me. I also never use instinct. My main problem with the game was how linear some of the missions were but the rest of the game also gave you freedom to choose the assassination methods as you had so many options to choose from. I strongly recommend HITMAN though, it really is the best Hitman game in my opinion even though there are still a few problems with it as well but not as big as the other games.

You can’t imagine how scared I was before going for Deathmarch. I had like 140 hours or during my first playthrough (easiest difficulty!), doing every side mission, collecting all Gwent cards etc. But my friend from SG recently 100%ed it and motivated me to go for Deathmarch. She claimed if she can do it, anyone else can as well. I decided to play Deathmarch on NG+, I swear I am not exaggerating when I say about 15 hours or so was simply me preparing for it. Collecting alchemy formulas, testing builds, crafting oils/decoctions/potions, crafting high end gear, visiting every single place of power and so on. Well, gear ended up being useless as I decided to play naked. Yep I die in one shot but I actually managed to progress as far as 60% or so into the main campaign. I’ll do side missions now as I’m a bit underleveled :P Cutscenes are extremely funny and yep he’s really easy on the eyes :D I’d strongly recommend it to anyone haha ^^
