February 2017

Another few games beaten. Not too many but I still feel like I played a lot this month. Rise of the Tomb Raider took a while since I wanted to complete it to 100% (game progress, not achievements). The game was fun even tho it is really easy and the story is just a cliché, I just can’t say no to Lara :P

I know I’m pretty late with playing Resident Evil’s but the first time I tried them, I didn’t like them at all. The tank controls felt awful, and they’re full of QTEs, but I decided to give them another shot and actually kinda liked RE4 and Revelations now. They had atmosphere, especially Revelations with it’s claustrophobic setting on a ship. RE5 I still consider to be crap and 6 I didn’t like either, mostly because they re-used locations and bosses in different campaigns and the forced co-op elements.

Kane and Lynch 2…… well, at least it was short.

Coming from someone who hasn’t played any of those Resident Evils, my last one was Resident Evil 3, what did you think about their progression over time? General consensus seems to be they’re a steady decline so I’m getting more opinions out there before I play them for myself.

And I’m one of those people who haven’t played the first 3. So I can’t really compare them, if that’s what you meant.
But yeah, most people say they get worse and worse, too much action, not really horror anymore. I don’t have anything against action, if it’s done well. However 5 and 6 were ridiculous at times, very over the top and silly stuff.
Think RE7 is trying to correct the course and go back to a more horror genre. Seems they succeeded, looks pretty good, that one.

I guess I was unclear because I meant how 4, 5 and 6 relate to one another, but I think you answered it for me regardless. I went more or less straight from 3 to 7 so I skipped the TPS phase entirely, it seems.

Thanks.

Gratz on finishing all these games!
Man, I think I’ll never be able to look at resident evil’s logo without seeing a giraffe being… well… you know. xD

Thanks, and …yeah :D

In my humble opinion, RE4 is the best in series. And I’m one of few guys who still like RE5 :3 But RE6 is crap in any ways :(
