Mass Effect Andromeda is done and dusted. I don’t know how I would’ve felt about it at release, but it is a good game at this point. There isn’t really anything it does poorly. Pacing is average. By my perspective, it’s main flaws were it being much longer than necessary (largely removing the overarching sense of urgency that drove the trilogy) and a distinct lack of Drew Karpyshyn.

Some nice tie ins to the trilogy, a fair amount of solid tongue in cheek laughs, a definite improved combat system and less tedious system exploration. Also a few unresolved sequel/DLC bait stories that will largely be left unresolved, although two could definitely be addressed in ME4 if they really want to.

Objectively, while I understand the butthurt ratings, it’s actually a solid 7-7.5/10, and as a Mass Effect game, if 2 was a 10/10 and 1 n 3 were 8 or 9/10, this one is a solid 6. If you strip away the butthurt over its release issues and deviation from the trilogy story arc. Had Karpyshyn had been at the helm though, I bet this would’ve been a lot better.

Thanks for the review! I’m still hesitant to play the game myself but it’s good to know that it’s a decent game, albeit not as great as the trilogy. How long did it take you?

Probably in the neighborhood of 80-100 hours. Not exactly certain.

*I just looked. It was 64 hours lol
