New year, new username. Smythe is now Button Man, which was the title of an old comic I enjoyed back in the day and my new avatar is from that.

My Time at Sandrock
Basically, My Time at Portia with a different setting and characters. The gameplay is pretty much the same.
I wrote a brief review for Portia back in October 2022 and much of the same things apply here. It's okay. A massive time sync, lots of grinding and the remaining achievements require more which is why it's staying Beaten and I'm not trying for completion. The graphics are a bit better, gameplay maybe slightly better but my memory is hazy. I liked it enough to spend over 130 hours playing, but it was mostly routine and bit of relaxation than any real engagement or interest in the characters. There's another one coming, "My Time at Evershine". I must learn my lesson and avoid getting that one.Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip
Picked this up in a bundle. Probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise, but it was fun.
First of all, it was funny. Not laugh out loud funny, but funny. I think that's a rare thing in games, so many try to be funny and just end up missing the mark or repeating the same jokes over and over again. It's a 3-D open world adventure with decent storylines, things to collect but just the right level of difficulty and not too much grinding. Great balance overall. I got all 31 achievements and they appear in Steam, but one isn't syncing here for some reason. Hopefully that'll fix itself at some point, it's a rare completed game for me. Whoop!Leaf it Alone
A Steamgifts win. Why is there no thumbnail image for the game? I don't know. It has a full Steam page and everything appears there, might fix itself in the future with a sync.
A relaxing 'idler', I guess. Collect leaves around a house. First game like this that I've played but I guess it's a bit like the Powerwash game that was out a while back. Very satisfying to play. Not too long, but there are additional achievements to find. The remaining few relate to grinding for money and a speed challenge that I tried a few times and couldn't do, so it's staying Beaten.SteamWorld Heist II
I have the first game (Steamworld Heist), so thought I'd go back and check my review for that. I do have the game, but no assassination! It's sat at 38% completion. I guess I should go back and finish that one!
Turn based tactical game. The story was okay, enough to keep me going. That and the slight change in enemies you face were enough to make the levels feel different and there was a progression in difficulty, but I wasn't really invested in the story at all and skipped a lot of the cut scenes. Again, a kind of relaxing game that suits short playing periods, which is what I seem to be gravitating more and more towards in my old age! Many of the remaining achievements involve another playthrough (not dying, completing the game in a certain time period, etc.) or some grinding, so I won't be getting those. Into the beaten games pile and onwards.Toree 3D
A very cheap game with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews that caught my eye.
Short, a bit rough round the edge, and pretty garish. No Steam achievements and I beat it in under an hour, so it's 'Completed'. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't recommend it even though it's super cheap. Probably better to pay a little more and get a more polished game.Nice Day for Fishing
Another game where the thumbnail doesn't appear...hmmm.
I'm a bit torn on this one. It was different and kind of fun, but the 'humour' wasn't great and there was a lot of grinding to get to the stage of completion I reached. My biggest gripe with the remaining achievement which requires you to catch a level 5 of each kind of fish. That would be fine if there was any kind of log in the game as to what you've already caught, but there isn't. So, I guess if I wanted to do that, I'd have to keep playing and systematically catch each fish until I got one at level 5, make a physical note and move on to the next type of fish. That's not gonna happen. I guess I liked it enough to get all the others and put about 25 hours in, so it's not bad, but it will go into teh beaten pile and likely stay there unless they add a feature showing the fish you caught.Backlog Additions
