October 2026 Report!
Month was mostly eh, especially past few days. At least it’s over.
What happen when you mix Resident Evil with Turn-Based Tactics? You get Vultures - Scavengers of Death!
It’s pretty good but also quite buggy; one bug softlocked the game, a few were annoying but a couple were actually useful! Thankfully it has a very generous auto-save system so I never lost much progress.
Gameplay was fun! You can stunlock zombies easily but game comes up with new enemy types so it never got trivial. Lots of weapons and items too! I mostly relied on good ol’ knife, pistol and shotgun. With that combo I ended up with more ammo than zombies to kill by the end of the game :p
Story could be better but overall it was alright, brings the player to a lot of nicely-designed levels.
Liked it enough to go to dev/publisher’s Discord server to see if they plan for more. They are considering it so nice!
Doors: Paradox was a nice and chill puzzle game to play! Maybe slightly more difficult than Boxes: Lost Fragments, but also more easier levels thanks to having 58 levels, all unique!
A YEAR OF SPRINGS was very cute and sweet! Played One Night, Hot Springs before but the two other games were completely new to me. It also has an epilogue!
It’s written well, is very good to look at and tackles LGBTQ+ topics nicely.
Going through Dark Pictures Season 1 games one by one each month. This month it was time for Little Hope!
I say it’s a big improvement over Man of Medan! Animations are better and more natural, it’s far less buggy, and characters and story are better and still told nicely. A major plot twist may irk people though, since it’s done similarly in Man of Medan too.
No unique chapters unlocked by specific choices either, or characters splitting up differently. Story’s multi-layered and Curator’s Cut is still a thing, so it’s worth it for another playthrough or two.
Friend’s Pass is listed on Blaeo. I have the full game, therefore into Won’t Play it goes.
Between Horizons is by Lacuna devs, which I liked! I wouldn’t say it surpasses Lacuna but I still enjoyed it! And it improves on investigation mechanics and overall presentation.
It’s shorter than Lacuna but Cases are harder too! Requires more thinking than an average adventure game.
If you played Hotline Miami 2 and wanted more, OTXO is for you! Very fun roguelike top-down shooter.
