I played this game with Nisbett for the monthly theme. My thoughts on this game are pretty basic. I love it. It’s very detailed. The gameplay is very simple but the game has a good story.

spoilers :D :D
I love how the progression of the game slowly changes your character. I love how it touches on PTSD when most war games don’t. Slowly as you progress through the story, your outfit starts to changed and degrade. Little details like that as well as the loading screen changing as you progress is a nice touch. The speech patterns you receive from your team change also. Little details like that are very cool.

So many people are playing this lately. Not gonna read the spoiler part, I may play it someday too :)

Yeah this really is one of those games that will sit with you for a long time. Not because of the shooting, because that’s (Probably deliberately) very generic, but because of the way it messes with what you think you know about shooter games.
And as you say, the descent into madness is so well shown, the way your team starts out very confident and united, and that relationship breaks down as they question your decisions and succumb to their own trauma. It’s probably the closest a game has got to the actual horror of being in a real life war. Every other shooter makes you feel like a hero, when the reality is, anyone who faces the kind of situations thrown at you in a game is going to come out the other side completely messed up. So yeah it’s not an easy play by any means, but it’s worth it just for the different perspective it gives
It is such a pity that this game was ignored so much when it came out. Games that do something different are sadly so often ignored when they release, the studio then has to close down and it’s only later that people realise the incredible idea that the game had, and then are sad that they won’t see another like it.

I 100% agree. I wish games like this weren’t ignored so much because games like Call of Duty (which are just multiplayer shooters) get all the attention and games like this with a good story get ignored.

Yeah it’s sad that the gaming industry is made up of millions and millions of players, but there’s such a huge chunk who will only ever play the ‘big’ games. I know more than a few of them. Some of them I’ll even give a game like this to and say, “here try this, it’s really cool”, and they can’t look away from their ‘counter-battlefield of dutying’ for even just the 6 hours it takes to do a play through of this.
