I got this game for free from Kinguin's Crazy Free Weekends, during one of the earlier weekends where the bidding system wasn't active yet. At that time, I wasn't aware that this isn't the online version and the first game only has local co-op (so this was a bit of a problem, since I wanted to play this with my boyfriend online).

However, a friend of mine came over to stay the night in the first week of July and we made some good progress in the game together. The same friend was here a couple days ago, and together we not only finished the game, but managed to complete it! (Only the main game though.) We made all of the levels 3/3 stars, and that eventually gave us the final achievement, marking Overcooked 100%. This is my third game ever in which I have all of the achievements, so this feels like a somewhat historical moment for me. 😂

Jokes aside, the game itself is great (but only as co-op). It has great levels where it demands you work together with your partner, and find a balance between rushing and being careful. We ended up replaying some levels so many times that I think I can pass them my eyes closed now. I enjoyed this so much that I purchased its only DLC, The Lost Morsel, while it was still on sale. (More on this later.) It's really fun to mess up as well. Once, when we were just starting in the game, our whole kitchen caught on fire and we couldn't do anything, except start over. But before we gave up, trying to save the kitchen and somehow pass the level after that made us laugh so much.

So. Great co-op game. 👍

Sadly, it doesn't work as a singleplayer (in my experience). You have to control 2 chefs all by yourself, and this makes it almost impossible to pass the levels with 3 stars, which you need to do eventually to unlock later levels. I'm saying this because some of the levels require high levels of co-op playing, and as only one person, it's hard to do both roles at the same time. (It was impossible for me.) I'm sure there are people who can and will do this (or already have done) but I'm not that stubborn when it comes to "hard" games. If a game is making me frustrated more than it's giving me enjoyment, I'm dropping that game. So if I wasn't playing Overcooked as co-op, I would never have finished it, let alone get 100%.

The whole game took around 11-12 hours for us to complete, minus the time we spent on DLCs. (I don't know how long we spent on them.) I have 14.6 hours because later I started over with my boyfriend, this time using a software called Parsec. It wasn't as smooth as we would've liked, but we still managed to complete a couple levels before giving up. (Parsec is supposed to enable people to play local co-op games as online co-op.)

I didn't enjoy this DLC at all.

The levels seemed fun and interesting at first, but it quickly became tedious and not that fun, to be honest. This DLC only adds 6 new levels to the game, so it's an achievement almost to make it seem tedious. I believe it's because the level balances weren't adjusted properly, making some of the levels very easy while making others hard. We (my friend and me) both didn't feel like completing this one, but for the sake of the money I spent on it (at least I got it during the sale) we at least got 1 star in every level. 3 start seemed impossible and I'm sure they aren't, but at that moment trying to get 3 starts felt like a waste of time.

I mean, it can still be played and enjoyed probably, but it was simply not for me (or us). I will still check out the DLC for Overcooked 2 when I get the game (or after completing it), but this one was… meh. At least it's beaten. 🤷‍♀️

I don't count the DLC towards my completion of the main game, that's why I didn't mark Overcooked as beaten instead of completed.
