Wrapped up Dust and Salt, which was a really cool choose your own adventure style game with some questionable turn based hex battle and some issues with not editing the script, and yet somehow, it all works nicely. Very DnD, but in a low tech world. I’ve started the sequel, Dust and Salt: The Battle for Murk, which basically puts you on the other side of the story from Dust and Salt, only more limited as you, a city guardsman, try to stop sabotage and betrayal from allowing the opposing army into the city. Pretty good as well, but I haven’t wrapped up any of the non death endings yet lol.

…and then I kind of couldn’t get myself to fire up any games, so in an attempt to bring it back, I fired up Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, which I had played to about the halfway point on the PS3 and always kind of wanted to go back. Turns out it is still a quality game by today’s standards, so that was nice. A very fun game that took me about 18 hours with probably another 6ish (at least) left if I want to go through and wrap up the remaining side stories, which I very well may do. Still worth playing.

Oh nice, your description of Dust and Salt definitely intrigued me. Don’t believe I’ve ever heard of those games before, good luck with beating the sequel!

I think Blacklist still suffers from Ubisoft pushing the series more toward action, but after Conviction it was definitely a step in the right direction. Shame Splinter Cell kinda stopped there. FPS sections were whack, though.

I keep hearing rumors of an upcoming Splinter Cell game, so maybe Ubi is about ready to dust off the series. I’d definitely say that Ubi used Blacklist as sort of the inception of their more objective based, sort of open world shooter that they are now pretty famous for (the Division most notably). Funny thing is, when Blacklist released, pretty much everyone I knew was on board with the changes (except them not having Jeremy Irons reprise his role, despite him not really being able to do so due to health concerns at the time).

Yeah, wasn’t there some Ghost Recon: Wildlands teaser with Sim Fisher or something?

Craziest thing is Assassin’s Creed concept supposedly came from what Conviction was originally planned to be, and then they added Prince of Persia parkouring into the mix. I sure hope Ubisoft deviates from “unlock towers” formula, though.

I believe so, but more recently, there’s also been a lot of chatter about a possible new Splinter Cell. Nothing really verifiable though.

….and yeah, that is interesting. I had not heard that regarding AssCreed/Conviction.

Fingers crossed.
