I’ve played Borderlands 2 and Tales from the Borderlands before this. I was really hoping I’ll enjoy this as much as I did BL2, but I was wrong. It was frustrating and bugs abound. Like one “dead” character still appearing and talking on your comms when you visit an area, even after you’ve cleared it already. Small bumps on the ground can also be a major pain the ass when you’re going about fighting goons. I sometimes end up dying because I get trapped by stupid rocks or bumps, so death is also frustrating. And falling. It’s like you can fall everywhere.

The new elemental weapon types are really not that special. The characters are not very memorable, especially compared to BL2. In BL2, I looked forward to the side quests. Here, they felt like a chore.

Lastly, I thought wrongly that I couldn’t hate Jack even more than I already do.

Anyway, the ending still hypes me for BL3. I just really hope it won’t be anything like this one. In BL2, I was looking forward to TVHM and UVHM so I can improve my abilities. There wasn’t an excitement like that here…

I’m not sure if I can recommend this. Maybe just watch a playthrough if you really want the story.

I’m a big time BL2 fan, and I was disappointed with The Pre-Sequel as well. I think a lot of us were. Although I can’t deny a certain amount of pleasure getting to play as Claptrap, the game felt a lot like filler to me with some cheap tricks (low-G, freeze element, lasers), to make the mechanics slightly different enough to sell it as a completely new game. In the end did two playthoughs as Claptrap and Nisha then left it there.

I liked the plot, but felt instead of making the baddies into vault hunters they should have adapted the story into a Telltale game perhaps playing as Athena and crossing paths with Jack, Nisha and Wilhelm that demonstrates how they end up in their respective roles for BL2.

I played as Nisha but wanted to try Claptrap as well, but I was getting frustrated with my first run.

Yeah, the plot was nice, especially in preparation for Borderlands 3… IF they ever get around it. I think I’d have enjoyed it more as a Telltale game as well, or just watching a playthrough of it on YouTube.

Borderlands 3 has been in the rumor mill a lot lately with some unconfirmed leaks that a reveal trailer will be out for E3 this year (week of June 12).
