Mass Effect

7/10

I liked this game, which was a bit dissappointing, because I was hoping to love it. It dated poorly, I had some problems with the gameplay, especcially fights felt clunky. There was so much reusing in side missions - they literally had 4 dungeons and kept using them again and again. The story and the world was really good and epic but suprisingly, the writing was very uneven. Main dialogs were ok, but I was putting a lot of points in their version of charisma and have a lot of additional dialogue options which should help me resolving things non violently. Well - they did, but Shepart’s arguments were so weak, I was constantly asking: “Really? You are convincing them with THIS?”. All in all I’m more admiring this game, then loving it. Also, I started to play Mass Effect 2 - after about 15 minuts it’s SOOO much better.

Leaving Lyndow

6/10

Well, I have a problem with scoring this game. I absolutely love Eastshade, at this point it’s my favourite game of the year. And this was like a return to a beloved place. It was so good to see known landscapes and buildings, to return one more time to Lyndow, even if it looks worse than in the main game. But this is a tech demo, not a game. Makers of Eastshade clearly were testing, if they can make this kind of game, so they made four locations, a few basic gameplay mechanics, wrote a very simple story and put it together into 1 hour walking sim. And then they put it on Steam, to catch a couple of bucks. I will recommend it only for Eastshade lovers who wants to jump for a few minutes more into this world. The rest - buy a main game! It’s brilliant!

Book of Demons

7/10

Nice hack’n’slah with some innovative mechanics. Story - symplistic - you are a hero, there is portal to hell, go there, close it. You are going through randomly generated dungeons, fighting with monsters (which I must say are a lot of different species), then going back to surface, upgrade your cards and go again. Yes, cards - in this game every spell and equipment is a card, and you have certain number of slots for those cards. So - do you prefer to have healling potions, or a sword in this slot? It is playing nice and smoothly, the normal difficulty is very easy (I didn’t die once during the whole campaign). I beat the campaign with one character and now I can play again in endless mode,or try to win with other two classes, but I have enough.
