Stick It To The Man!

Cool-looking Dystopia - The World Gone Wrong Quirky

November Play or Pay game and Challenge Me! game I completed during the last round. I played it in one day, on a night I should have gone to bed early. My dreams ended up weird and in the style of this game. The humor unfortunately fell flat for me, but it was fun running around swinging the giant hand coming out of your character's head. I missed one achievement for not being seen during a certain segment, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth trying to get it since you can't just die and reload a checkpoint for it apparently.

Quirky Won on SteamGifts

Challenge Me! game for the current round, and also an SG win. I also count it as an impulse win for this month's theme. Well, it turned out alright. Levels are pretty varied. The story concept and link to gameplay are good. I thought the Death character was more annoying than funny, but I guess that's my main complaint. I was afraid it would be too hard to complete based on posts on the forum, but it really wasn't that hard to beat a "boss" at the end after you figure out what counters his moves. The "fight" should really be thought of as a puzzle in which you have to try different things to see what works, though it could use more direction. I almost got fed up before I realized that I needed to blow on the sword when it was red, but the rest was almost trivial. I tried to do a time trial but forgot to take a shower, and then just gave up when I realized how long it would take to walk all the way back across the house. :/

Anna's Quest

Folklore & Mythology Literary Ties Won on SteamGifts

Started well, may have slumped a little in the middle, but finished well. You play a girl who was kidnapped by a witch for her telekinesis powers (actually, I think I missed something about why she had those powers if someone can explain?). I really liked the first chapter and how it introduced the story, the animated scenes, as well as modern and medieval aesthetics, which mirrors the conflict between science and magic you eventually see in the story.

Cute animal musicians.
