#December and January progress report

Hello fellow assassins :D
Those months were very busy to me, connecting Christmas and my own wedding, followed by 2 weeks being sick (ears problem, couldn’t focus my sight on anything) left me with very limited game time. And of course I’ve taken something to do in my home, so I’m making around 20 overhours weekly. I hope I’ll finish this week and go back to Borderlands 2 playthrough (got platinum on ps3 years ago, but there were no DLC’s then, bought GOTY on steam). Fact, that I’ve beaten anything in those months is very surprising to me :D

  • Duke Nukem Forever

    8 hours playtime

    33 of 62 achievements

  • Tembo The Badass Elephant

    7 hours playtime

    14 of 15 achievements

    </h3>
    • Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!

      22 hours playtime

      50 of 50 achievements

    • Borderlands 2

      46 hours playtime

      41 of 69 achievements

Duke Nukem Forever wasn’t as bad as people describe it. It just doesn’t live up to DN3D legend. Humor is cheesy thou. Pretty decent shooter, but there’s a lot better ones on steam.
Tembo The Badass Elephant I bought this game altogether with the Mickey Mouse Castle of something to play with son, but this is much harder than the latter. It was nice platformer, but sometimes require patience, planning and a lot of practice to get through it. The last achievement left is for gathering 99 lives, and I’ve ended (alone, son fall behind on this :P ) with 13. As I’ve watched videos and steam forums there is a way to farm those, but it would take around 6h of grinding one level. Thank you very much, 14/15 achievement is good enough.
Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! I’ve never thought that I’ll go back to this one, since I had only craft x weapon achievements left + DLC which was pricey. On the last sale and getting my local currency on steam the DLC was for around 0,5 euro, so why not. Took me 4h to get last 10 achievements, and now I’ve won the second one (Holy Potatoes! We’re in Space?! from Vhajsuna), so probably it will end in a monthly report soon :)

Borderlands 2 I love this game, I’ve beaten the main story and Pirate Scarlett Booty DLC, now I’m on TVHM in Mr. Torgue Campaign of Carnage DLC as gunzerker. Will play it a lot more, but it was time to mark it as beaten.

I hope that I’ll have more to report next month. Happy assassinations everybody :D

#9 Progress report - November

This month was just great! After accommodating in a new place I could spend as much time playing as I wanted. Of course I preferred to go out with new met coworkers, but unfortunately - I need as much money as I could save, because in the end of December I’m getting married - so saving did cut those events down to 2. And about those games:

  • Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

    35 hours playtime

    59 of 59 achievements

  • Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

    50 hours playtime

    35 of 88 achievements

  • Epistory - Typing Chronicles

    6 hours playtime

    40 of 55 achievements

  • Sacred 3

    6 hours playtime

    2 of 45 achievements

  • Hell Yeah!

    2 hours playtime

    5 of 12 achievements

  • Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior

    5 minutes playtime

    0 of 2 achievements

  • Life Is Strange

    4 hours playtime

    1 of 60 achievements

Sleeping Dogs in this month it was just a clean up of achievements and DLC’s. Loved all the time I’ve spend in Hong Kong.
Titan Quest is one of the my most beloved games, that I return to from time to time. Went through Epic with my Hunter/Nature and had a blast!
Epistory was in my wishlist for a long time, but received it after it was bundled. The story is great and surprising, gameplay is as I was expecting - typing weird words in a fast pace . If you grabbed that humble bundle - spend a little time with this game.
DOOM took me around 2 weeks from life. I’m trying to get max lvl in multi, currently echelon IV. Maybe in this year I’ll be able to get 100% in it? It reminds me good times with Quake II, and the multi is just the same - fast paced, brutal and entertaining. Shame that I cannot gather my old team, just for this one month.
And now the bad:
Sacred 3 cannot be this bad, right? I was wondering, and now I know. Played the first mission only, and then I saw the map - no open world, gathering people to team, grinding for next levels etc. The rest of the game is still as bad. Most of my playtime comes from card farming.
Hell Yeah! cheesy humor, bad controls (not responsible char in a platformer? no thank you), overall idea how the weapon and sawblade work is bad. Love platformers, but this one is going to thrash.
Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior- the idea sounded nice in the beginning. But few minutes of gameplay showed how tedious it is, and I’ve just dropped it.
Life is Strange bought this game after most of people praised it, even after having a bad experience with Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain (both on PS3). It is just not my type of game, and I didn’t bother about the teenagers story, problems etc. at all. If you’re having any doubts on this game - just don’t buy it.

Happy assassinations in those few remaining weeks!

#8 Progress report - August, September and October

After long break - I have time to post here. As I’ve mentioned, I’ve changed job and relocated around 650 km. Preparations used most of my free time, being a new hire also didn’t help my gaming time after moving in. So, here’s a little recap of previous months.

August

  • Super Meat Boy

    14 hours playtime

    14 of 48 achievements

  • Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!

    19 hours playtime

    38 of 50 achievements

  • DOOM

    18 hours playtime

    23 of 54 achievements

Super Meat Boy - I’ve left it on the last boss, because I’ve spend like 3h on it without success few months ago. And this time I’ve beaten him in 3rd try, marking the game as beaten. Maybe I’ll return to it, but not in a short time.
Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope is the same situation as with SMB, I’ve failed to complete the boss rush near the end few times. Bought this game on GOG and played it on my old laptop, which means very occasionally. Probably won’t go for 100% of feats. Loved this game thou.
Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?! is a small game, which length was enhanced by forcing you to do very repetitive stuff – grinding levels of heroes and number of created weapons. By far the worst game of those in this report.
DOOM I love it, and will play the MP soon, till getting bored :D Campaign is fast, brutal, engaging and pure fun. Price of it is dropping very fast, every mature player should beat this game :D

September

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider

    17 hours playtime

    27 of 143 achievements

  • Syberia 2

    6 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • Dropsy

    3 hours playtime

    28 of 30 achievements

  • Lords Of The Fallen

    16 hours playtime

    29 of 56 achievements

  • Just Cause

    14 hours playtime

    no achievements

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a decent game. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s the same as his direct predecessor, although adding more sandbox things didn’t make it better. Story is worse than before, didn’t enjoy it as I should. I’ve loved the first one – but this got me bored in the end.
Syberia II comes directly after the first one, the story is still great, puzzles aren’t complicated, I strongly recommend it because it’s a great game, and many times it was given away for free.
DROPSY is a story about helping other people and hugging them. I was afraid to start this one after watching short part of this game. Some puzzles were hard to figure out, but still it was a short game. The story is really enjoyable and kept me pushing forward. Missing achievement for visiting all places in the game (which I’ve surely did) made me drop the achievement for going in squeak shoes. If you have it, play it.
Lords of the Fallenwas an easy game, takes from Soul series fighting scheme and development of character. Story was nice to watch, bosses were fun, overall good game.
Just Cause it’s a decent game. Everything from it was improved in 2nd entry, which is the best. Story is cheesy, and the game is easy (:D), with an except for the last mission, which is much harder. Play the JC2 instead.
Kingdom Rush Frontiers was my ongoing android game. Done 100% of it, will recommend it to everyone.

October

  • Cuphead

    9 hours playtime

    16 of 28 achievements

  • Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

    14 hours playtime

    23 of 59 achievements

Cuphead is a great game. Bosses are fun and different, but not hard on normal. Run’n’Gun sections were the bullshit for me, spend at least half of my playtime in them. Going for expert mode – at least on bosses.
Sleeping Dogs is a great, enjoyable game. After GTA and Saints Row series it’s a refreshment, settling in between those schemes and atmospheres. One of the best games that I’ve played this year.
The Witcher 3: GOTY after one year I’ve returned to this one. On NG+. On Death March difficulty. Finishing all gwent decks, sidequests and hunts. Discovering all ? on map. In 60h. Total playtime – 170h. Game of the decade for sure.

Happy assassinations guys!

#7 Progress report - July

I’ve got to admit, I haven’t played the settled monthly game at al this month (yeah :D ). I’m playing it now, at the beginning of august, and the delay came from summer sale. The DOOM and Carmageddon. I’ve started them as soon as the download was finished, and spend whole month playing them (DOOM isn’t in this report, because I’m playing MP - it reminds me those good time of Quake II in the class room). Also, I’ve beaten another LEGO games with my son. Beside gaming - I’m changing my job, now I’ll get 2x cash and a lot more possibilities to further develop, but I need to relocate, and probably won’t play as much as I did in this month in the next 2 months - starting new job at 2nd October.
This will be a short report :)

  • Carmageddon: Max Damage
    Carmageddon: Max Damage

    32 hours playtime

    27 of 30 achievements

  • LEGO® MARVEL Super Heroes
    LEGO® MARVEL Super Heroes

    22 hours playtime

    20 of 45 achievements

Carmageddon: Max Damage is the newest game in the series. Series, that I’ve bought as a teenager, and still have those huge boxes on my shelf. This game feels just like the first one, with the controls problems, enemies being aggressive and relentless, and the lack of missions, which came in 2 and TDR. I just loved it. I’ve marked it as completed without 3 achievements - 2 from (dead) MP, and 1 for owning every other game in the series on steam - which is just stupid. Although this game can be counted as my monthly theme game completed (bought in on this summer sale, started to play around 5th?).

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is just a generic LEGO game. My son loves the spider man and hulk, but I feel a little bit tired of this formulae as in every game in series. We have beaten the game in around 10h, now youngster is playing on his own, trying to get as much % as he can. Knowing him - it will be around 35% :D

Good luck with assassinations, let’s get our hands dirty!

#6 Progress note - June

Whoah, this month! I’ve been able to play at least 1h daily, with regular 2-3h on Tuesday and Friday. Only the last week gave me hard time at work, I’ve had to finish and do some clean up on my flood plains extent maps, which I’ve been doing last 3-4 months I think. For my backlogg - it was a hard time. At first, I’ve won 6 HOG’s (thx again to the group train creators :D), after this - my regular magazine with 4 games, bundle on some site (bundlestars?) with LEGO games (+3), and now - summer sale (+2, DOOM [2016] and Carmageddon: Max Damage). Damn. But - to the point:

Mortal Kombat X as every fighting game - I’ve finished the story mode, played some of arcade fights - and dropped. My brothers have own PS4 fighting games, so we are playing at their places. My son is too young for this. I may want to explore some of the Krypt, but after some thinking - I rather play Legend of Grimrock 2 :D

Syberia 2nd playthrough, after all those years - I remembered almost all of the game. It’s still beautiful (background, people are ugly :P ), have nice music, and it’s enjoyable. Been aiming to play the second game next, but then the HOG GA ended, and I started playing them.

Grim Fandango 5h on steam - but I’ve finished it on android few days ago, and decided to breeze through the steam version, with guide to all achievements. This game is the best of those assassinated this month :D. Humor, story, Glottis – they will drag you to the end.
HOG are almost always the same. The cheesy acting, easy puzzles and UI. Just quick summary of each:
Dark Arcana: The Carnival darkest of those, fun to play, only one that I’ve bothered to do 100%
Sea Legends: Phantasmal Light Collector’s Edition hint system –“There’s nothing to do here”, but nothing too bad.
Pahelika: Revelations HD don’t play it, even if you gained it for free – it’s the worse of them, total waste of time.
Namariel Legends: Iron Lord Premium Edition isn’t bad, I’ve rather enjoyed it – but game is broken. On the first section of the game I’ve had to restart, because I couldn’t click important item. On second playthrough I didn’t had any problems, until the second to last screen – when I’ve encountered the same problem. Basically – game forced me to restart just 2 minutes from the end. But I didn’t do this, screw it.
Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren’s Call and Nightmares from the Deep 3: Davy Jones those were good, have nothing to say more.

So – that was an adventure month. Now I’ll play DOOM and Carmageddon till finish, probably won’t participate in monthly theme – btw, all this time reporting thingy required with comparison to HLTB in just pure fun challenge?

#5 Progress note - May

This wasn’t good month for gaming, but also wasn’t too bad. I’ve managed to beat some of my backlogg, some of it was made pretty long ago. Achievementwise, I didn’t made too much progress, still around 66% overall completion, but now with 30 perfect games.

In this month on steam:

  • LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™
LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™

    34 hours playtime

    48 of 48 achievements

  • Spoiler Alert
    Spoiler Alert

    2 hours playtime

    10 of 10 achievements

  • Sid Meier's Civilization V
    Sid Meier's Civilization V

    105 hours playtime

    85 of 287 achievements

LEGO Lord of the Rings is the game I’ve started, and beaten, on March Monthly Theme. Unfortunately, I’ve grown bored of it, had to make almost month length break, and completed it on the beginning of may. It’s good game, but too repetitive, and in easy game doing 100% in this circumstances made it too boring to complete from start to finish. Still, I’ve encountered bug, which I’ve had to solve by using cheat (developers made it to allow people with bugged % counter to get to 100%). And there’s one bugged achievement, in order to get it you need to change settings on v-sync (which is bullshit :P).

Spoiler Alert is a little, short game, in which you play the game backward - from defeating the last boss to start. I’ve had some problem with few jumps - timing is a problem, some enemies are falling from screen when killed - but you’re playing backward, they are coming from bottom, and you need to jump on them. Wouldn’t bought this, I’ve received it with my local magazine, which I buy since 1998, and won’t stop. Altogether - play it, if you don’t have anything better to assassinate (don’t cheat yourself, you have :D ).

Civilization V is the game I love. But this love is toxic, this one turn more factor kills my free time to 0. This month I’ve played around 20h, tried to finish on the biggest map, on king difficulty, as a Shoshones - with tech victory. I’m too new to this game to do this in 200 turns, so I’ve lost on turn 400 because of Greece, which won by diplomacy. Still worth it, thou. And the next game - 3 cities culture victory with Gandhi, but on normal size map - it was fun, fast paced and satisfying victory :D. To not get too bored - I’m taking a break, after some time I’m starting on Emperor difficulty :D

Outside steam:

Kathy Rain on android, part of humble bundle. I love this game. Those old p’n’c games rock, and this one is generally making a good copy of mechanics and the soul of them. Play it, you won’t regret it!
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back on psp - emulated my old disc there. Started this game shortly after 105% completing Crash 3, like 12 years ago, and never managed to complete it. Until this month :D 100% done.

Happy assassinations, may the June post be longer :D

#4 Progress note - April

This month gave me even less gaming time than normal. The main reasons - my birthday (28th…) and adoption of Maltese dog (those toy ones, when standing on rear paws won’t reach my knee, even as adult. Now he’s 3 months old, so he’s tiny :D ). This made me using my android phone as main gaming machine :P (little bit over 1h every work day). Managed to complete two games from my Challenge me! list, thx to ShandyAndy.

  • Contrast
    Contrast

    4 hours playtime

    22 of 22 achievements

  • Lumino City
    Lumino City

    6 hours playtime

    no achievements

Both of them were great, got them a long time ago.
Contrast had really fun idea for gameplay, but was somewhat buggy and unstable - playing with shadows wasn’t always perfect, easy to get out of shadows and starting long sections again because of jumping from wall to wall and bad collision detection repeated a lot. Still - game was fun, wanted to see those puzzle sections, story - I didn’t care at all.

Lumino City - story conclusion was great, made a lot of sense to me. Gameplay with built-in hint system mademe breeze through the game, probably some of puzzles were complicated too much, without explanation.

On android I’ve completed Kingdom Rush Origins and Machinarium. Also finished Kingdom Rush Frontiers, with a lot of challenges to do. Started Kathy Rain, from Humble bundle.
Good luck with assassinations this months :D

#3 Progress note - March

This month… Long, but my gaming time has dropped as never before. Although I’ve been able to take a part in the monthly theme :). It was very important time, I’ve discovered a lot of things about myself, my kid and wife, but that’s not a place to write about that, this is about my gaming part :P. So - I didn’t join any giveaway in this month, because of my backlogg and my will to fight it. I already have games to fill around 2500 hours, just to beat them (as seen on hltb). With 6h per week (and not every one), I’m playing around 300 h per year. After simple calculation - that’s 10 years. Maybe I won’t play around 10% of those games. Those numbers are great, but joining another giveaways of games, that I’d love to play - but in 1-2 years - it’s just stealing chances from other people, who maybe would play it from the day of receiving it. So I’m leaving that part :)

Next part - my job requires me to go by tram 2h every day. My olde psp is my sons now, my DS doesn’t get any attention from me. I’ve been thinking about 3DS - but my wife would kill me after buying next console :)
Suddenly - humble mobile bundle. After buying the strategy pack (Kingdom Rush ftw), I’ve decided to search around the web, what games can I play on my powerhouse (:D) - after half year going with my phone in pocket I’ve found out, that I can play those shiny RPGs on it - starting with Final Fantasy Tactics, other FF games, finishing on Dragon Quests - those games from my PS2, which I’ve never could finish - they are there! So probably, after completing the game that I have on phone - I’ll buy one of those, and so on - I don’t wanna start backlogg on phone :) Currently - almost completing Kingdom Rush Origins, I’m also trying Rayman Origins (from Ubi presents). This maybe will take a part of my life.

As it goes in my Steam games:

  • DiRT Showdown
    DiRT Showdown

    15 hours playtime

    44 of 49 achievements

  • AdVenture Capitalist

  • LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™
LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™

    17 hours playtime

    29 of 48 achievements

DiRT SHOWDOWN is pretty solid game. Nothing too special, but I’ve got it from Codemasters bundle, which I’ve bought for other titles. Marked it as completed - made it 100% single, multi achievements aren’t for me - and in this game… After finishing ANY mp race I’ve got DC. Couldn’t get any place, so no progress in this category for me, and I won’t even waste my time trying.

AdVenture Capitalist :D done it 100%, started mid-summer. 2015. It was VERY idle.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings beaten the story with my son, after that I’ve collected most of the red bricks to make progress faster. And after this - I’ve lost any interest in this game :P. It’s not bad, I’ve done 55% - but I need to replay every mission, and do some search through overworld - but I rather play other games.

I have beaten Hotline Miami - I loved this one. It’s fast, brutal, challenging, just pure fun :D, took me around 3h. Also made it through 2/3 Torchlight II as Outsider, personally, after playing a lot of Diablo III on PS3, I prefer this one. It’s fast, can be hard, with a lot of skills, my own pet - and overall I liked TII more. Made platinum of DIII, maybe getting max lvl with every character bored me too much. I’ve also played NFS: Most Wanted (2012), after receiving it on Origin loong ago. It’s pretty generic racing game, but come on - why I have already settled number of races for every car? It’s just plain bs.

Enough of my whining - happy assassinations in next month :D

#2 Progress note - February

Whoah, that was crazy month for gaming. Altough I’ve been sick for one week, laying in bed with my xbox controller :P And after two years of really shitty internet connection - I finally have something allowing me to play online, and even to download some games :D. It’s still 10Mbps, but my flat is in older building, with older people - and they won’t allow to change cables to better one, so that’s max what I can get.
I’ve noticed, that after setting my to-do-list of games I’ve lost interest in those games, I’m playing just random ones from my library :P
And onto breakdown!

Day of the Tentacle was really fun game, I loved it ages ago and I loved it this time again. This was purelly achievement run, used a walkthrough to get them all in one go. I don’t have enough time to play all the games that I want to, so replaying one usually goes like this.

Titan Souls - I first got this DRM free on gog galaxy, beaten it there, but after some sale I grabbed another copy on steam, I don’t even know why :( Bosses were fun, but those dying animations are too long, in addition to sometimes long traveling to retry fight made me play 2h, but actually it was around 1,5h - so yeah. All together - I like this game, but won’t replay for achievements.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse (sg win) and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge those games are great :D Loved few Castlevania games, enjoyed those a lot. The story is cheesy enough, gameplay is fun, can be either easy or hard (if going for achievements), and this music, I’m loving it. The feeling of getting stronger is real, backtracking for 100% - fun and quick. Achievements that reqiure speedrunning/learning the game aren’t for me, I don’t have that much time :(

Titan Quest normal run done as hunting/nature. I really like this game - but around 25h per playthrough is too much, I’ve finished this game few times before - and got bored again, I’m gonna need another break from it.

Bioshock 2: Minerva’s Den that’s the last story (including main game and DLC) in Bioshock franchise, all of them went down. Had some problems with it because of crashing, but thanks to the Internet I’ve been able to resolve them. The story isn’t special, didn’t made good impression on me - and the changes (weapon and gravity well) were too small, and not too usefull too.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is the worse in franchise. Done the coop time and time in-game achievements now, rest of the game done long ago. If you want good SR, don’t take this one.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is my new target, probably will take me whole March to beat it 100%, but those graphics… If the story is fun as it were in previous one - I’m gonna love it. On my previous Internet connection my game crashed at the second I started it - because of account logging screen. Would have done this one just after the release…

And onto next month of assassinations :D Wish you people will have some good ones :)

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Finally I’ve beaten this game (after around 2 years after buying it :D ). Went down the Roche’s path, with full rampage in last chapter - in every choice there I’ve killed that person.
Even when compared to the 3rd installment of series it’s not a bad game. The story, music and overall gameplay is so great, that I’m sure I will go with Iorweth next time (on hard mode). Maybe it is short - took me only 25h to beat it once, but I’ll try hard to get all achievements (even the Madman - complete the game on hardest setting, without dying), so probably will spend around 70 - 100 h ireplaying it :D. Made short break to complete the next game.

Deponia

As I wrote in my list of games for 2017 to assassinate, I’ve already completed the Deponia: The Complete Journey, making replaying this for achievements/cards/+1 as 100% game a walk in the park. Still, I love this game. Humour, the journey, main character, all of this made it still enjoyable. Got some synching issues with this one, now my profile shows 19/19 achievements, while here I have none.

And as the end of January - I’m gonna beat The Witcher 2 on hard, Iorweth’s path, getting as much achievements (probably 51/52), and than - Day of the Tentacle (to 100%).
