#2 Progress note - February

Whoah, that was crazy month for gaming. Altough I’ve been sick for one week, laying in bed with my xbox controller :P And after two years of really shitty internet connection - I finally have something allowing me to play online, and even to download some games :D. It’s still 10Mbps, but my flat is in older building, with older people - and they won’t allow to change cables to better one, so that’s max what I can get.
I’ve noticed, that after setting my to-do-list of games I’ve lost interest in those games, I’m playing just random ones from my library :P
And onto breakdown!

  • Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Day of the Tentacle was really fun game, I loved it ages ago and I loved it this time again. This was purelly achievement run, used a walkthrough to get them all in one go. I don’t have enough time to play all the games that I want to, so replaying one usually goes like this.

Titan Souls - I first got this DRM free on gog galaxy, beaten it there, but after some sale I grabbed another copy on steam, I don’t even know why :( Bosses were fun, but those dying animations are too long, in addition to sometimes long traveling to retry fight made me play 2h, but actually it was around 1,5h - so yeah. All together - I like this game, but won’t replay for achievements.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse (sg win) and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge those games are great :D Loved few Castlevania games, enjoyed those a lot. The story is cheesy enough, gameplay is fun, can be either easy or hard (if going for achievements), and this music, I’m loving it. The feeling of getting stronger is real, backtracking for 100% - fun and quick. Achievements that reqiure speedrunning/learning the game aren’t for me, I don’t have that much time :(

Titan Quest normal run done as hunting/nature. I really like this game - but around 25h per playthrough is too much, I’ve finished this game few times before - and got bored again, I’m gonna need another break from it.

Bioshock 2: Minerva’s Den that’s the last story (including main game and DLC) in Bioshock franchise, all of them went down. Had some problems with it because of crashing, but thanks to the Internet I’ve been able to resolve them. The story isn’t special, didn’t made good impression on me - and the changes (weapon and gravity well) were too small, and not too usefull too.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is the worse in franchise. Done the coop time and time in-game achievements now, rest of the game done long ago. If you want good SR, don’t take this one.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is my new target, probably will take me whole March to beat it 100%, but those graphics… If the story is fun as it were in previous one - I’m gonna love it. On my previous Internet connection my game crashed at the second I started it - because of account logging screen. Would have done this one just after the release…

And onto next month of assassinations :D Wish you people will have some good ones :)

Congratulations on your progress. May I ask how challenging Gat out of Hell achievements are for someone who doesn’t have tons of experience in third person shooters?

I was just thinking to myself today that I could “maybe”, “possibly” get 100% on Saints Row 3 and 4 (I’ll still need to take a closer look at the achievements to make sure) but I was considering making an alt account to play Gat out of Hell cause from the first look all those achievements sound very hard to me but I don’t know how they are reflected into the game. Sometimes an achievement can sound so hard from the description but can be very easy to obtain in-game and vise versa.

If you intend to 100% Saints Row 3 and 4, you’ll need a dedicated co-op partner because of those play x missions in co-op and play x hours in co-op achievements which I really hate. The single-player achievements aren’t hard to get but a few are a bit grindy.

Oh, and as for difficulty, you’ll feel overpowered fast (like Ciri on Death March! near the end of TW3).

You’ll need a dedicated co-op partner

I have that covered :) Well that’ good to hear. I can do the grindy part as long as it isn’t like “reach level 200” in Dragon’s Dogma :P Thank you for explaining.

I still don’t know anything about Gat out of Hell :( “Complete ALL challenges” for example or other stuff like collect this 5 times without touching ground etc. All of these sound so hard to me :P

IcyGlare

The level 200 grind wasn’t that bad. :p

For the challenges, you’ll have to complete tasks such as kill x enemies with y weapon, get gold medals in x activity, etc.

The “Complete ALL challenges” part is bs, imho. It’s just pure grind, with a lot of them being “kill x demons with x weapon”. And after them - “kill x demons with x power”. Gold medals took me at max 2 tries, so it’s a breeze. Main story of Gat out of Hell is 3h long, we’ve done it with partner in the achievement time (3h coop). The most fun of SR games to coop goes like this: III, IV, II (mainly of synch problems, you need to be sure to save in the same moment to be able to play again together), GoOH (it’s short, uninspired, although for first playthrough maybe somewhat funny). I also recommend playing coop from beginning. On hard mode. With friendly fire. With possibly lowest upgrades bought. Then those games are really fun coop games, otherwise - you’ll just run through them.
I wrote this as a huge fun of SR.

I won’t be doing anything you suggested. Third person shooter/action stuff is not my thing, I’m here for the story. I’ll play coop from the beginning and go for 100% if it’s doable. Thanks for the explanation.

It’s easily duable, but some of x kills are grindy. I’ve menaged to get all of challenges in 10h. The last achievement is 20h in game, cannot alt +tab it. That’s why I’ve suggested doing it hard, otherwise it probably will require idling :)

Forsaken

I don’t mind that, there are always books to read :) Seriously, thanks a lot for all suggestions. Some of the achievements still look very hard to me but we’ll see. I still need to 100% 3 and 4, all of that will take ages. It’ll be a very long time until I start Gat out of Hell :(

I used to be really curious about Minerva’s Den, ‘cause I bought Bioshock 2 when Steam stoped selling this DLC for some reason. So I waited for several month till I was able to get it and it was kinda offensively to find out how meh this DLC is :(

disobeyeddycha

I’ve bought it with hope, in my DLC rampage (DMC, SR III and IV and many other). It’s not that bad though, those 2h went quick. But it was just the same as the main game, excluding the new weapon and power.
