Just here trying to work on my backlog as time allows :-)
I’m a 100% Linux gamer and my pc is getting a bit dated (AMD FX-9590 + GTX 970). These days, Linux really isn’t too bad for gaming but there are still some that don’t work on Linux (either in general or for a specific setup).. and even Windows users occasionally find a game that doesn’t run very well on certain hw. Linux gamers usually use protondb reviews to get a rough idea of how a given steam game will run but nothing’s perfect. Still it’s been quite awhile since I couldn’t get a single-player game to work tho I still can’t get co-op to work properly in Halo: MCC.
If you see games marked as ‘Unplayed’ but having some small number of minutes; that’s likely me testing if I can launch the game and get to its menus without issues. I tend to check that for anything installed on the ssd where space is at a premium.
For other Linux nerds, I usually run the latest Fedora (usually either Cinnamon or Xfce) and proton experimental. Occasionally,I’ll switch to ProtonGE if a experimental doesn’t work and I see it mentioned positively on protondb.
For anybody that might be interested in trying Linux for the first time, if you’re coming from Windows, I would recommend starting with either Nobara Project (based off Fedora but a setup of codecs/video drivers/game related tweaks is MUCH more beginner-friendly than in Fedora proper) or Linux Mint Edge Edition (Linux Mint is a very beginner friendly distro and the edge edition has better support for newer hardware). For Mac users, I have heard good things about PopOS and one of my late best buds (RIP) always loved it but I have heard some Mac users mention Elementary OS as well.
