Hmm. I haven’t beat any long games in 2 months! But I’m still working away at Stardew Valley. In a few hours it will be my most played game on steam! Maybe I’ll beat it next month. :3 Wall of text incoming. sorry. <3

I think Riff Racer - Race Your Music! is supposed to be a rhythm combined with a driving game, but there is very little rhythm in this game. The track and obstacles are based on the music you choose, but the gameplay doesn’t really seem to be that dependent on the music. Maybe it’s supposed to be like that and the music is just to make the driving more fun, but it seemed a bit boring to me. It was still pretty fun and I enjoyed the hours I played, but I think it would be better if there would be a bit more to the game I guess. I’m not sure though. It was still good.

Midsummer Night has an interesting story! It’s really short, like an hour and a half long. I often tend to avoid “adventure” games because I find a lot of puzzles to be obscure and hard to figure out, but this one is pretty simple and straight forward. There are some puzzles but they all made sense to me (from what I remember, I did play this one over a month ago now. :x) So it wasn’t really a memorable game for me, I enjoyed playing but I’ve since mostly forgotten about it. D: I think one day I might play through for more achievements.

I didn’t like VOI. It is a really visual puzzle game and visual is my weakest point. I don’t think it’s a bad game, it just really wasn’t for me even though I usually love simple puzzle games. I gave up near the end and used a guide because I was so frustrated. It wasn’t too difficult for me to solve, I just found it incredibly annoying and not worth my frustration. D:

Genital Jousting was a game my friend bought me to play with her. It’s silly and currently deserving of its early access status. There isn’t much to do because after playing for an ~hour you’ve experienced everything. But yeah, juvenile humour but it’s good fun to play with friends for a bit. I don’t think I’d pay for it though, the fun wears off quickly.

Trine 2!! This was an SG win that took me way too long to get around to. This game is sooo much fun. I’ve only played it in multiplayer and multiplayer always makes games fun for me though. :3 I haven’t played the DLC yet but hopefully I can convince my friends to do that soon. ;) It was also really beautiful. For some reason when I think of a platformer game I usually assume they don’t look that good. Trine 2 was always so pretty though. I don’t think I caught any of the story though, maybe because I haven’t played the first one yet. I definitely plan to play this again, probably to at least experience the warrior and archer since I mostly played the wizard. I would also like to 100% this game possibly, but it might be too difficult for me.

The Beginner’s Guide was totally engrossing almost the whole time. It really makes you feel emotions and stuff. But some of it felt really… forced? to me. I’m not sure that’s the right word, but the ending didn’t feel as sincere as the rest of the story to me. I’m really glad that I played this game anyway though. I’d probably recommend it to anyone who enjoys story games. :D

Montaro is the cutest runner game I have ever seen! It has the cutest dog who steals panties from girls! The gameplay is probably average for a runner but that’s good enough because at least the gameplay isn’t bad. :D One achievement is really grindy unfortunately because you have to steal quite a large number of panties but there is no counter to tell you how much you have already stolen. I was trying to get the achievement in one night but I ended up giving up due to boredom, and when I started the game up again the next day I got the achievement really quickly. Like in the next run. D: I was so close…

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is just amazing. In the beginning I didn’t understand what was going on in the story at all, but it didn’t take that long to figure out. I first tried playing this with my boyfriend, but he really disliked it and quit playing pretty quickly. After beating the game on my own I think it’s because we both had 1 arm and 1 leg. If I played again co op I think it would be better if one did legs, and the other did the arm. This game was way better than I expected anyway. The story is almost charming. I expected a silly and kinda pointless game, but this game is really well done. I really enjoyed it. I hope I can convince others to play co-op with me sometime! I think it’s a really fun co-op game. :3

OmniBus. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. This is the first “Actually Playing Games” win that I’ve beaten so far. I have such mixed feelings about it. I think I went in with the wrong impression of this game being easier than it was LOL. DC must be amazing at games for OmniBus to be an easy game for him. :3 I would love to go back and play for more achievements, but right now I won’t. Maybe in the future. So the game is actually fun, with lots of variation in both your bus and the levels. I don’t even think any of the levels were really similar despite there being so many. But it’s kind of frustrating! I have a feeling this was due to me sucking at… games in general? idk. It was like RNG to me if the bus was going to land on its wheels or not which seemed annoying. I would have liked a bit more control over the bus, even though the silly physics was a big part of the game, so I’m not sure how that would work at all. Oh well. And the last boss took like 2 hours (or more?) for me to beat. This also felt super random to me. I would get to like, 3 seconds away from winning, and then you had to aim your bus at the boss and hit a rocket that he was shooting at you and hope it would bounce your bus into him. Maybe I was doing this wrong? But it took me hours to finally hit him. Aside from that boss it was fun! I’m glad I played. :3 Thanks DC. <3

Ahhh I really want to play a Trine game in multiplayer at some point, it does seem like that’d be so much fun, especially if someone is feeling mischievous… I’ve only finished the first game and haven’t beaten the second one yet but it is on my “play soon” list! Getting 100% seems like an impossible task for me at least as it requires hardcore mode which I presume means no dying from start to finish!

OmniBus certainly looked interesting with its crazy physics although it sucks to hear it can be frustrating. I’ll keep any eye out and see if there is a good price for it on sale!

Forsaken

which I presume means no dying from start to finish!

Not exactly. If you are playing single player and die with one character, you can only use the remaining 2 characters. If you die again then you are left with one character to finish the chapter. If you die with the very last character too then you need to start that mission from the beginning.

If you are playing co-op, once you die you will stay dead until your co-op partners activate a checkpoint that hasn’t been activated before.

Joe

Oh okay that sounds a bit more forgiving than I originally thought, however from my memory (it was a few years ago) the first Trine really required you to use all the abilities together of the characters in order to progress, does that mean the second game has been designed less so? I remember the checkpoint system being very useful!

Forsaken

There are even achievements to finish chapters with one character only and the entire Trine 2 DLC must be finished with one character only for another achievement so yes most of the levels are designed in a way that you can use one character only. My favourite is Amadeus but he’s useless against boss battles so Zoya has the most versatility and all DLC levels can be finished using only her while certain chapters can be finished with only Amadeus as well. I never did that particular achievement though cause DLC is extremely hard and I gave up on 100%ing this game despite having 100% in base game but it’s a strict no to DLCs.

Joe

Thank you for the explanation! It’s a shame to hear that the game requires you to limit yourself to 100% it but I suppose it’s just an added challenge for anyone whose interested. I was quite happy to just finish the story in the first Trine although I was tempted to find all those secrets hidden away, I’ll probably do the same thing with the second game considering the difficulty you mentioned! Is it an odd suggestion for there to be separate achievements tied to DLC? I hate how games can often force you to purchase DLC if you want to 100% it.

Forsaken

I hate the DLC achievements system too, I wish they were separate. I have 100% in Fallout 4 base game but due to the number of achievements its season pass has that game now decreases my average completion rate.

When I got Trine 2 the DLC was also included as the version I purchased was “Trine 2: Complete Story”. I just checked Steam store and there is no base game only version so I guess you get DLC automatically. But it sucks when you don’t want to buy them which is often the case with me as I don’t think those DLCs are worth the high asking price considering their often short content.

Trine 2 DLCs were pretty good though, just way too hard for people like me who don’t enjoy platformers. I got the hardcore+hard achievement after a lot of headaches and frustrations in base game with my coop partners but I gave up on 2nd mission once we moved on to DLC, I just can’t do it. If you ever attempt to go for them, I wish you lots of patience, you’ll need it :)

Same here, Octodad gave much more than I expected. It’s a genuinely fun game, not just one of those “hey, look at these silly physics” type of games. I mean yes, the physics are silly but this game has more to it. I wasn’t aware that it had a co-op mode, that must be both hilarious and frustrating at the same time.

cbones - LINUX

I just finished Trine 2, I was frustrated by it so I quit a while back, and going back to it … I’m not sure why I was so frustrated.

Have you played The Stanley Parable? I won The Beginner’s Guide but haven’t played it yet … I was hoping to play The Stanley Parable first. I just need to win or commit to purchasing it :)
