February Sum-Up
The previous month was mostly dedicated to finish my PoP backlog. And yes, I finished them all. Time to finish more of my backlog this month.
The game really gives you the feels. It makes me think a lot of things about these kinds of people, and what I should do if I'm in that situation. I can't really express this game in words, but this is a game that is unique and unforgettable to me.
One of Artifex Mundi games that didn't age well. The hidden object minigames are good, but the rest are just too old at this point.
I was surprised by this game's quality actually. I didn't expect to play such a good point and click game. They have a lot of cutscenes, making it as if you are watching a movie. The point and click element sucks though. Best to be played with a guide to avoid frustration.
An interesting micro management game for the first few hours which gets stale as you play. You control planes and its crews in world war 2: give commands to the crew to do their tasks, zoom out the plane to mark enemies' planes, and direct the plane's destination. It can be chaotic at first, but you'll get used to it.
I can't get enough of Evoland. It's the third time I played it (first outside Steam, second for the legendary edition, and now this). I still enjoyed it every time I played it. The visuals somehow reminds me of Zelda's Minish Cap, and so is the default gameplay. I like that they are offering a lot of genres without making them difficult too.
Well, it's cute. Being a point and click game, I found it hard to find the solutions, especially since some items are hard to see. You also can't hover objects in different floor within the same screen, and the same applies if you are moving. The hints are helpful though, and I admit that the solutions are tricky. I like it when I get them right.
Can't say much about Artifex Mundi games since they are similar. This one is better in the visuals department. Too bad it's only 2.5 hours long.
To be fair, I only played this for the achievements. I'm surprised that the online is still alive though, although I'm not sure if they are bots or not. The only good thing that I can see from this is that it's lightweight, so potato computers can run it.
A simple turn-based strategy game that is played entirely on keyboard. I'm not a fan of strategy games, but I still like it due to the hacking theme. The difficulty is quite easy and you can still make it easier. I dislike the RNG at the beginning, but it will be manageable as you play.
A meme game about Jesus based on the bible. I laughed for the first few minutes in two of the three available games, but the rest are just boring.
Didn't play the flash games, but man, their animations are smooth. It's a choose your adventure game where you click an option and watch what happened. I like some of them, although clicking the bios for the achievements was annoying in some spots.
An easy murder mystery game in sidescroller format without the murder part - let's just say that it's an investigation game. They have too much useless control imo. The solutions are very easy once you get all clues and think the connections between them. I hate the achievements though. Replaying the game without fast forward or skip option just to see what happened at the end is a pain.
On top of those, I also replayed:
I replayed the game while fixing my guide, so I wasn't keen on everything. I planned to replay it again to experience everything myself 100%.
It is a shooter game with a mysterious theme. Kinda like a horror game where you loot stuffs and shoot some "ghosts". It was quite mediocre and repetitive, but the latest update made it better. I understand more about the story, for starters.
I also touched Clouds of Rain again since the developer added some updates after my review, but I hated the difficulty, even at the easiest one, so I dropped it shortly after.
Well, that’s everything. I am still playing Elements II: Hearts of Light at the moment, so that will be included next month if I feel like posting again. I plan on picking up a lot of “trash” games that I accumulated in the past for this month, but let’s see if I can handle them after playing some other games.
See you later.
Wow, what a successful month! You’ve been really busy with those PoP titles, gratz on finishing them all.
I used a guide for Runaway as well, I couldn’t figure out all the puzzles on my own. I think A Twist of Fate is the best of the Runaway games, but I didn’t really enjoy them overall. I also agree with you on Bomber Crew. It’s a fun game, but it really gets stale after a while. Still enjoyed it overall though. Good luck with your next month, I hope the trash games are not too awful overall ;)
Oh, and thanks for the warning about the Lacuna achievements!
thanks! luckily, the games were nice. i even feel bad for playing them at once since i might be running out of good games to play later. i’m not even sure how bad my PoP pick for the next period will be… there isn’t much option in the “very long” list and i hate almost all of them, hahah.
runaway: a twist of fate was my first runaway series actually. i got it from indiegala gameplay since i was curious on how it works (gave up doing it after that win since it took too much effort for one random key). that’s why i was surprised that it was good. i’m glad to know that it’s the best of the series though. i might pick the rest of the series later if i’m in the mood.
i think my overall experience with bomber crew was bad because i spent a lot of time to grind for the “defeat ace” achievements. i keep on replaying the easy missions until all of them are defeated, so it was pretty repetitive already. i hate being a completionist sometimes, hahah.
thanks! i’m pretty sure that some of them are okay (masked shooter wasn’t as bad as i thought, for example), but since i’m not good at judging games, i might dig into a deeper hole myself.
you’re welcome! i won’t recommend to 100% lacuna if you don’t care about the achievements. my brain went numb from all that waiting.
Oh, for a random Indiegala key Runaway is a pretty decent game indeed! And you have to keep in mind that I’m not a huuuuuge Point’n’click fan, so someone else might like the other Runaway games more than I did.
In Bomber Crew I reserved the grindy achievements for a second run, maybe that was the difference. The grind for the last achievements was still no fun…You’re completely right, sometimes being a completionist can be exhausting. It definitely has its downside…looking at a game and immediately checking the achievements. I think I would have done quite a bit more of my backlog if I hadn’t tried to complete a lot of the games. On the other hand it’s also fun and sometimes you discover things you wouldn’t have tried without going for all the achievements :)
I hope you get some decent PoP picks nonetheless!
Well, some of my friends also like their games, so hopefully they are good enough for me.
I guess so. I like the optional achievements that can help you to explore the game as a whole, but sometimes i wonder whether the grindy and difficult achievements are worth it, hahah. I tried not to worry much about them nowadays, but still. I can’t just give up without trying… yet. I tried to get games in other platform if i dont want to 100% it, but they ended up forgotten since i want to finish my steam backlog first. Hopefully i will get to it someday.
Thanks! Hope you will be able to do some backlog slaying this month too :)
