July 2019 report

Some progress on my ABC challenge !

A month without children is a great month to finish some games (despites hot wave in France...) ! I managed to finish 7 games and played a lot of new ones, and for most of them, great ones.

During the GreenManGaming sale, I managed to buy some good VR games as I bought A Fisherman's Tale and got Raw Data and Star Trek Bridge Crew (+ 2 non-VR games) for free ! Great deal, but not good for the backlog...

I managed to finish two games on my ABC challenge this month: Nier Automata (what a game !) and Ryse Son of Rome which replaced Remember Me. I was bored by Remember Me after 4h, as the gameplay of the fights is not fun and the camera always go in weird position.

I also started again, for the 3rd time, Warframe and this time I think I love it. I'm not sure I'll play it a lot because it requires a lot of grind from what I've read but for now I'm having fun with the fast-paced combat and movements.

And what about your month ? Do you found some time to finished some games ?

Big slap in the face with this game. I didn't expect this at all when I started it.
So certainly, the first run is not the most interesting, even if we discover a magnificent world and history.

But it is absolutely necessary to do the run B and the C/D/E ends. The story is really well done and well brought and the secondary quests are never painful because they are varied and bring us a lot in terms of understanding.

The runs also bring interesting gameplay variations, you never get bored with the 40 hours or so it takes to get through a good part of the game.

Special mention also to the music, simply excellent!
And a little black spot for the quality of the PC port, fortunately fixed by the excellent FAR patch.

In short, a really original and interesting game, which should not be missed.

Yoku's Island Express

An original game that mixes pinball and exploration/platform.

9 hours of play to finish the main story and collect a lot of stuff. I had a great time there: the world is beautiful, the gameplay is really great, especially the pinball phases, very successful. New "skills" are unlocked as the game progresses to vary the pleasures and unlock new areas.

The game is full of secret areas and stuff to collect, a little too much even, it can quickly turn to a grind if you want to do everything. Especially since some areas are difficult to reach and navigation in the map can be a little difficult.
Fortunately, this is not necessary to finish the game.

In short, a very good surprise and a game that I recommend to everyone. Also very suitable for children.

I started this game a long time ago but I had trouble keeping up because I'm not a big fan of stealth games. I decided to try again this month and change my gaming style to make it more fun for me. I've been playing on the chaos side as a stealth assassin.
A great game overall, the design of the levels is impressive and the fact that we can approach each situation with many possibilities is really great.
The art style is unique, but the graphics are not top notch, but he still manages to show some impressive views.
I need to play the DLC now !

I had some apprehensions before starting this game because of the criticism it received, but in the end I found it pretty good.
You have to take it like a Hollywood show, it's not very credible but impresses the eyes. And he does it very well.

First by its high quality graphics, it is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played. The characters are superb, the levels too, the work done on the lights sublimating the whole thing.

The only regret I have on the graphics are the movies that are strangely less beautiful because they are a little blurry.
The show is also ensured by the constant rhythm of the game, and the varied settings that we travel through. In less than 6 hours we really see extremely varied environments and atmospheres.

In terms of negatives, the gameplay of the fights is not very good, based on QTE sometimes complicated to place. And the story, without being catastrophic, is very much agreed.

Despite that I really liked it and it goes really well as a little game (5h and a half to finish it in normal) without any headache.

Valley is a really short game with parkour gameplay and some little puzzles to solve. It's well made, beautiful and have a nice story. Nothing much to say but I had a fun moment playing it !

The main quality of the game is its magnificent artistic direction, although it is full of stuff I think has already been seen. It reminds me of Monument Valley, for example.
But it's very pretty and very well animated. The music is beautiful but repeats itself too much, and since there is no dialogue, I was a little fed up after an hour… It really lacks variety.

As for the game, it's pretty lame. From the light platform, a little basic puzzles, nothing too crazy, I got bored and forced myself a little to finish it. Especially since it is not the story that makes you want to move forward, it is so abstract and incomprehensible.

In short, very disappointed by this game, I wasn't moved at all like some people, I just found it long while I finished it in 3 hours.

A Fisherman's Tale

Excellent puzzle game in VR. It's cute all the way, the story is nice and well told, the puzzles are increasingly difficult and make you think a lot towards the end.
Good handling in VR, the travel system and the fact that you can "extend your arms" are super well thought out and practical.

Too bad it's so short though, it took me an hour and a half to finish while taking my time.
