I’m currently playing (and almost done) The Henry Stickmin Collection, and it’s a blast! I didn’t expect this game to make me laugh so hard and so much. I’ll be posting more from it next Friday, so expect a ton of funny references to other media (games, movies, tv shows, etc.). The game is simply a blast to play, and I know we’re only starting February, so it may be a bit premature, but I gotta say this is my GOTY so far. Not a single moment was wasted. Tekken 8 is a close second, but I gotta give it to The Henry Stickmin Collection. This simple choose-your-own-advenure style game is just something else.
And to grace your eyes for this week’s Screenshot Sunday, #40, here’s the best man, with the best plan, Charles!
'Tis the best of plans, Charles. The best.
I also installed 100 unplayed games (on top of 33 others I played already and also installed cuz why not). If you can’t pick what to play, install lots of stuff, and then you’ll surely pick something… right? So far it has a 100% success rate. Yes, I only picked and played one game (The Henry Stickmin Collection), but it worked, didn’t it?
It’s Henry Stickmin! It’s got to have been one of very few games I played right away after getting it. I used to play the first few games back in the days of browser gaming and now I can’t believe the series has officially come to an end, it’s so funny it should be illegal. Charles best character seconded.
I just like looking at the icons more than anything else, but yes, I also have about 100 games installed at all times. Some of them are stuff I started and still haven’t finished for whatever reason, some are stuff I’m planning to play in the near future… either way, when I’m done with one and I get to move the icons around, that’s a real good feeling.
I just want to play something, and overthinking is what I do best. So I just looked over my library and picked some games to play (decided to go 100 unplayed, meaning not played outside of Steam as well, on top of some other games I played) which I’m sure will make it easier to just say “eh, let me try this, I already have it installed.” Most of these are indie games tho, as I did play almost all of the AAA stuff in my library (outside of steam and steam), so should be a fun way to get closer to that silly goal of playing the games I own. I want to experince that feeling of having nothing to play god damnit! One day, I shall.
Also, here’s the pic of the games I picked:
I’m right there with you! Perseverance is the key :)
I don’t know if you’re looking for recommendations, but Downfall is a must-play, imo (right alongside The Cat Lady, which you don’t seem to own), then Lorelai caps off the trilogy (as far as I know, there isn’t necessarily a chronological order to the games, but Lorelai was the last to came out). Also, Samorost 1 is crazy short. A “blink and you’ll miss it” kind of deal :D
See, i forgot about that. I might postpone it then until I get TCL (seems to go on sale often). I will probably look into playing all of them together, rather than too long apart, so gonna wait till I get TCL first before starting on this journey then. A spring sale is around the corner anyway, so maybe I’ll have some spare 3$, ha, to buy TCL.
And yeah, I’ve heard Samorost 1 is very short. I’m just glad they brought it to Steam after all those years. Now I can play all three!
This is something I should have been doing with my games as well… except my brain somehow thought the reverse would be cooler. Why playing sequels years apart from each other would make sense, I do not know. (lol)
I’m really excited to lean you’ll be playing through the Devil Came Through Here trilogy, though! It’s oddly nostalgic to me by now and even though I don’t really see myself replaying it (maybe except Downfall, I’m still curious to see what the original graphics were like), I still have a soft spot for it somewhere deep inside.
Hear, hear!
