August 2025 report
Nothing much new happened, mostly continued with the started games. ^_^
Enough of small talks and now to the actual assassinations! Good luck in the new month and enjoy your games!
I love it. Having Sephiroth and Genesis on the big screen is all I need. 😁
The missions are fun, although they can be overwhelming and interrupt the emotional flow of the story. Going for 100% of the missions is pretty tedious and draining. Upon completing the story, you open NewGame+ so leaving the missions for the second/third/fourth run would probably be a better idea?
Excellent metroidvania with great visual style, nice music, gripping story (even if predictable), and interesting characters. The fights are challenging and rewarding. The variety of weapons is big, and each is fun to use. Can safely recommend.
A few points:
- no Vsync, thus there are moments of screen tearing - for me, it only happened in safe locations like the Tavern, so I wasn't seriously bothered by it
- spelling errors and constant switching of he/she/him/her pronouns
- the music during fights could have been more dramatic
- the final boss fight can be quite frustrating
Very good adventure with an interesting story. Both the visuals and music are pretty nice. Also, the voice acting is of good quality. There are three different approaches that you can adapt - you will open new skills according to your attitude, which I liked. Although for achievements, you need to play the whole game at least three times and as there is no manual save it can be pretty tedious. Luckily, the game isn't too long.
One more thing that bothered me a little was that the scenes/characters didn't have any idle animation during conversations. Just a motion of their breathing or shoulder movement… something like that would make it feel more lively.
I don't know… I was slightly disappointed I suppose. You try your best to take care of the farm, to gather food, to make cheese… but in the end, none of it matters - because you can't die of hunger! You can just wait for the ultimate end, doing practically nothing. If you decide to do something around the farm, you need to choose what exactly, because there basically isn't enough time to do more than two things. Also, if you want to buy/sell something, you need to stay around the house, as the merchant will wait only a moment. Oh, and if you want to decorate your house with items he sells, you must buy them right away when they show up, as the items will not be offered again - you know I was afraid of starving, so I didn't sell my two cheeses…
Can't say that I was affected by the story - there just wasn't enough to attach to. Shame. Maybe if we followed the granny over the years and not just spent with her the last few months/weeks/days? Also, the pace of the game is very slow - same like granny's movement, which just superficially prolongs the game.

Lol 8doors is 40h long ! You’re really tenacious, congratz !
Those are two complete runs. ;) You should see my Hollow Knight stats. xD
Thanks. :3
147h ! /o/
Lol i’m dangerously next to that time for Pharaoh !
Hah, that’s on Steam. On GOG I am over 300 hours. ;D
Yeah, can imagine. I would probably double your time. xD

Ohhhh, maybe I should bump 8Doors a bit higher after the disappointment with Axiom Verge I just had hahaha
Either way, The Stillness of the Wind was on my backlog but I can’t remember why. I think I’ll just de-prioritize it, your review doesn’t instill a lot of confidence hahahaa thank you for sharing thou!
Well, I think you can. ;) I did two runs - one on normal mode (which proved challenging in some moments) and one on story mode without any perks. I have enjoyed going through the underworld and searching for its secrets. Hopefully, you won’t experience the screen tearing.
I remember liking it from the game page and trailer, but the in-game experience felt flat. The start was nice - everything is new then it all blends together. Maybe that was the meaning behind it… the inevitability of life… but I for sure wasn’t touched by it.
There’s a fine line between artistic games and just being pretentious hahaha one such high minded game that didn’t work for me was The Space Between. I’ve heard high praise for it but I’ve enjoyed reviews more than the game itself hahaha
