August 2025

After two months of almost no wins, August came roaring and I won a whopping 7 games - bad news for the backlog, but good news for me I guess? Hahahaha

It was a good month gaming-wise. I managed to beat 3 SG wins and one game from the backlog. The wins were Technobabylon, an incredibly good game that introduced me (and made me a fan of) Wadjet Eye Games; Oddworld New N’ Tasty, which I didn’t love (the same way I didn’t love Abe’s Odyssee) but at least managed to suffer through without abandoning it, and American Fugitive, a pretty fun mediocre game hahaha. The backlog asssassination was a massive deal, Elden Ring, which became my most played Steam game, dethroning Red Dead Redemption 2. Such a thrill. Notable comment - it was an unrelated SG win, as I won it in the Taleplay Discord channel. I can’t thank Vasharal and Arrmeya enough for that. Now’s YOUR CHANCE to make me happy by gifting me the DLC or Dark Souls 1 or Lies of P 🥰🤣

As the month has turned, I’ll of course prioritize one or two wins to assassinate early in the next month, and then try to focus back on Thief (1998) from my backlog, which has been left gathering dust this month after I beat the first two missions. It’s a game that is harder for me to simply pick up and play, because the gameplay is way more cerebral and methodic, and I like to have the right mindspace and available time to really savor it.

Anyway, happy gaming!

Congratz for the 3 SG wins beaten !

fernandopa

It’s 1% of the total every month! :) thank you

Nice games! Technobablyon is one of the games I need to do. I’m glad you liked it since it’s one of Wadjet Eye games, and those are always good !

They managed to avoid many of the traps of point & click games (overly complex puzzles and moon logic (for the most part), long and unskippable voice acted commentary on every object, etc) and create a fascinating universe. If their other games are anything like that, I’m sold haha

I recently un-hid Hob’s Barrow from my SG games list, so hopefully I’ll snag a copy soon! I don’t see many of their other games being given away, although these last few days I’ve seen The Shivah at least once

Zelrune

Congratulations on your assassinations!!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Gonna go for that last Elden Ring achievement? I’ve never gotten into souls-like games but Elden Ring is sooo pretty.

fernandopa

Thanks! I will, at some point. It requires another playthrough, and I don’t have it in me right now, but maybe when I get the DLC I’ll play a NG+ run in preparation for it, which will allow me to unlock the last cheevo.

I should have been able to get it in my previous playthrough if I had been careful with my saves, but I ended up locking myself out of that achievement before realizing what I have done. Well, it’s completed (in my mind at least lol)

PS - I was absolutely terrified of FromSoft / Souls games, but Elden Ring was somewhat gentle in it’s difficulty curve. There were a lot of hard skill checks (some which I only beat through cheese), but the majority of them were for optional content. If you allow yourself to summon spirits, a lot of the hard fights become trivial. I’d say it’s a good entry point for the genre
