Aquilla

Finished in March (1-3)

Intresting times we have… I couldn’t force myself to write a post for some time, and I was jumping from game to game, without much progress. But we need to stay calm, and sit at home, so playing games is one of the better way to relax and spend free time.

Guacamelee! 2

I really, really liked the first Guacamelee, and I like this one. But only like, not love. The game is very similar to the first one, and the quality is similar, but in the meantime I was playing Hollow Knight and Celeste, and those two games just devastated this one. It’s a good Metroidvania, it just has better competition, and also somethimes I was feeling that I was fighting with controls, not with the actual game, which is a big problem for me.

Beautiful game. Truly beautiful. You are a historian/archeologist in this strange world of little moons, and rivers floating in space. You are investigating the dissapearance of your collegue with your robot servant/friend/annoying sidekick (you can treat him as you wish). It’s mostly walking sim, you are discovering new places, new ruins and cities, and talk. So. Much. Talking. But the talks are interesting and paced so well that I didn’t mind them at all. The second main gameplay mechanics is discovering an old writings. You are finding them all over the place and you are trying to translate the word after word. First you are guessing, then you are starting to see patterns, then yoa are recognising more and more words. It’s really satisfying. Also this game has a lot of branching and encourage you to replay it a couple of times. For me one playthrough and around 15 hours of gameplay was enough, but maybe I will play it once more one day, and do things differently.

A Short Hike

A cute little game. You are an anthropomorphic bird, you are on vacation and you want to climb to the top of the mountain. To do this you need feathers, which help you to climb, and you can find feathers in many different places on the map. I finished it in 1.5 hour, and I’m sure I missed A LOT of feathers, because this game is very open and expect to you to explore it on your own pace. I had fun, it’s a nice one evening game.

Thank you for the description of Heaven’s Vault, I had never heard about it before, and now I’m pretty curious to try it out! :D
