Alright. April is in the books. This month mostly featured playing through the expansions for Wartales and generally wrapping up the game; and playing through Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. One of the Wartales DLCs (The Skelmar Invasion) had a game breaking bug, so that is where I stopped playing the game. Although it looks like they just patched it the other day to fix the specific bug I encountered, so I’ll dive back in after a while. Plus, they just released another expansion, lol. But I’ll wait a bit. Anyway, I also played a couple quick titles to round out the month of completions. I’m now in the middle of the Oblivion Remastered. It’s actually been a clean experience for me. No bugs, no performance issues. And the actual enhancements, from the actual graphics to some QoL upgrades to some adjustments regarding level scaling and such are all very impressive. And to finish things off, I’ve been playing Forever Skies with a buddy of mine. We just got to the greenhouse over the blockade. So, not super far in, but far enough for the game to have elicited a positive impression from both of us.
April Completions
I didn't love this game at all. It had all the sadness of a dude that has made terrible relationship decisions because he's an ass, and only really has an epiphany after his wife dies. But there was none of the redemption. You're kind of just left high and dry. I did enjoy tossing stuff off his balcony though.
This was a stellar expansion for Wartales, offering a new scenario that actually takes place on many islands in an Archipielago. Very cool with lots of nice new areas and a neat boss fight to close it out. It was enjoyable. I think this scenario took around 20 hours to complete, but a few of those were spent on the mainland building up my supplies after I almost ran out of food, lol.
It was okay. It's basically Flappy Birds, but you are flying a kite instead. And there doesn't seem to be any endgame other than collecting the various level and kite skins and such. Categorize this one as a time waster for when you really don't have anything specific to play in mind.
This was a cool little horror vignette. It almost entirely takes place in a bus. You're in it, a monster or something is outside of it. It's short and to the point. I enjoyed it. The cheevos are broken would be my only real critique.
This is less a game and more a digital survey, conducted by Death. In which you will answer a lot of personal questions. At the end, assuming you didn't mess with Death, it will tell you the exact moment you are going to die. Which, you may or may not want to know, which would impact your decision to play this. Is it accurate? Only one way to find out, lol. You can however treat this as a comedy by messing with Death, and so there is a duality with this game. I thought it was cool.
This is another horror vignette, this time taking a more Lynchian approach to things. Set on a hiking trail in the wilderness. And it's free to play, so there's no risk in trying it out. It was cool.
This was aight. It's a quick little JRPG. Sadly, it does seem to have used AI to do the heavy lifting in development. Easily skipped, but it's not a bad experience.
Peak CRPG experience. It's about as good as a CRPG can be. Any issues it had at launch seem to be non-existent now. This one found its way into my top ten all-time games.
Kind of an amazing expansion. Seamlessly integrated and woven into the base campaign. Instead of giving it to you all at once, it happens throughout the campaign. And the new party member is awesome. Worth having before starting the base campaign.
April Retirements (not gonna bother with formatting these)
- Wartales - The Pits - Fun, but some of the battles have rules that are obscure and not well explained. Completed 80% of them though.
- Wartales - The Skelmar Invasion - Awesome new scenario, but it had a game breaking bug that wasn’t fixed until a couple days ago. I’ll definitely unretire this at some point though
- Gone Golfing - Just didn’t enjoy being chased by the antagonist, no matter how hilarious he actually was (and he was pretty funny)
- Galactic Vanguard - This dev stole everything from another game. It’s almost one for one (he changed some of the graphics a little bit)
- Zeno Clash - Cool, but I just don’t love the gameplay.
- Kādomon: Hyper Auto Battlers - Fun pokemon style auto battler, but the end bosses are almost impossible to defeat without complete RNG luck.
- Roots of Harmony - Good idea, decent execution of the village building; but laborious UI and combat that just doesn’t seem fair.
Plans for May
Wrap up Oblivion Remastered and keep playing co-op Forever Skies. I will also revisit STALKER 2 and will play Metal Slug Tactics as well. Some smaller titles will be in the mix I’m sure. And I’ll work in Starless Abyss this week.

Seems like a thumbnail is messed up. Just looked at the right side and saw the Half-Life thumbnail. Opened the text: “ a quick little JRPG”. Was confused for a moment and thought it was sarcasm until i checked the actual name of the game ^^’
Congratulations on your assassinations!! ᓚᘏᗢ
The more I hear about the new oblivion remaster the more excited I am to eventually get to it!!! I never played the original, though. Did you?
Yeah. It’s one of my all-time most played games. That list looks something like Neverwinter Nights, Warcraft 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Morrowind, Fallout 3/NV/4, Baldur’s Gate 1/2, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, DDO, ESO.
NWN I played for somewhere between two and three thousand hours, and I’d say Oblivion is somewhere in the 800 hours range. Maybe a bit more.
And The Oblivion Remaster has definitely been quite enjoyable. If you like vast open world games with an almost never-ending supply of fun things to do, that’s one of the games to play.
