Spooky month!
also played a bunch of Demos from Next Fest, will have some highlights at the bottom

I am not really a horror person but this one seemed like it might be interesting, wasn't really my type of game.

Dark Fairy Tale: Dreamland Survivors

an interesting take on the genre with the egg stuff(deciding to activate(within limited numbers) for a bigger stat buff or mechanic change or devour things for permanent buffs in a run(although usually alot lower than the equip effects).

my main issue is how extremely important the meta progression is, generally games like this the meta progression helps shape builds or push you over a hurdly a certain difficulty might have but its still doable without it… this one I don't think it is…. also pickup radius is a negative stat because of one of the tarot card events… since it can drop positive or negative money things… pickup radius makes it harder to avoid the negative ones.

solid game, I did have to use a guide quite a few times throughout, but got 3 endings(all levels, all stars, and in the dlc stuff to)

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

Spiderman is a menace!
throws peoples off buildings, webs them up then throws them into the ocean, climbs a building above a gunfight to get a backpack, then takes a picture of a nearby building, jumps behind someone right as someone else starts shooting at him so the other guy gets hit.

also wishlisted miles morales

the puzzles themselves are enjoyable… the game has some very annoying bugs, especially in the tutorial section(and outside of it…. just not as bad)… those bugs make it hard to recommend to pick it up.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage

was completely unsure what to expect from this looking at the steam page when I won it, it was enjoyable… but the humor just fell flat for me. Was fairly easy as well… I played on what would be considered the normal difficulty, probably should have played on a higher difficulty. 7/10

I can't call it bad… but its definitely lacking the extra charms other games of the genre it has.

gameplay loop being fairly solid and a nice graphical style alone can't carry every game.

managed a win on my 3rd? 4th? attempt, at the start you get to pick one of a bunch of weapons and a few come with a free upgrade, the winning run was chain lightning… its biggest benefit is no manual aiming required. helped carry me… on top of all the random healing dropped/buyable from shop(on top of shop being a free safe room every run!).

there is definitely more to be done in the game(mostly higher difficulties)… I just don't feel interested enough to do it.

The game definitely has potential to be great if the dev would put more work into it.

DOOMBLADE

solid metroidvania game, its KBM required, don't bother if you only play with a controller

CloverPit

from family share, technically beaten(1st run was a win, my total had letters in the number)
probably won't play much more of it, not my kind of game was just somewhat interested because the attention it was getting

also has my biggest complaint with games like this… RNG becomes to big of an issue after the first run because it gives you a bunch of unlocks making it harder to get a synergy going, but since the first run has so little at the start you go fairly far(and unlock better synergy throughout the run)

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

I had a great time with it… however hazard 5 is rough and I feel like I need to get another legendary piece of gear or 2 to really push further into it… other than the weekly(or is it bi-weekly) challenge run getting legendary gear items is just complete RNG(and then it not being useful >>)

calling it here, I'm happy with my purchase

Megabonk

its a nice mix of vampire survivors and risk of rain 2… but I feel like I have watched to many runs on YT pushing me to try and go for high score runs breaking my enjoyment(since those runs rely on RNG some and very specific setups… so more failures)

Hades II

Supergiant games is worth supporting at full price.

100%d out of respect for a great game.

TROUBLE JUICE

was probably wrong to play this directly after hades 2, probably better than I felt it was… but how do you go from playing a great game to something in a similar genre that is only a good game.

interesting game overall, the art style was the most appealing thing to me.

cute, enjoyable story, way to easy.

and now the Demos, going to be lazy on formatting, these managed to keep their place on the wishlist after trying the demo, for the most part I only played each for ~30-60mins(maybe even less, just 1 run for most the roguelites)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3657180/Skigill/
What if the path of exile skill tree was what you played on during an action roguelite, I like the concept, will have to see how meta progression and stuff works out in the long run

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3372060/Hell_Maiden/
absolutely gorgeous art style for the game, meta progression not implemented in the demo yet but will supposedly be there, waiting to see how it looks post launch

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3017760/Relic_Abyss/
another vampire survivor like game, need to play it a bit more tog et a good read

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3176500/Wizard_Cats/
Wizard cats, do I need to say more?

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2433850/Arcane_Tower_Survivors/
has a nice art style, skill system felt fleshed out, unsure why its getting mixed reviews post release, will need to check back on it later.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3470500/Ember_and_Blade/
this one I am still unsure how I truly felt about it

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3219180/Cursemark/
an interesting one for sure

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4005560/Maktala_Slime_Lootfest/
a cute looking incremental game

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2374670/Duncrush/
another incremental with a little more active gameplay

You may try the ChatGPT or similar for the format thing, I gave it my format, then I just give it the name of the game, and my review, then it will do the rest, I just have to copy the result :3

Carenard

I refuse to use AI so :P

May I ask why, if it’s okay to share? I’m just genuinely curious to hear your thoughts on it.

coleypollockfilet

I was wondering what was skigill, that’s a nice and funny explanation.
Congratz for your month, that’s a lot of games beaten !
