RobbyRatpoison's April 2026 BLAEO Review

I had a busy month! I managed to get 100% in 30* games (including reclaiming 100% in one game, Supermarket Together, that had added a single new achievement) and beat 5 others. Most were very short but still it’s nice to feel like I successfully shrunk my backlog. And I managed to do all this while continuing to develop my library management program!

Regular Games

Pepper Grinder was great! It looked like fun but for once it was exactly as good as I expected it to be. Nice ramp up in difficulty over time and some bonus challenge to get the time trial gold medals in every level. Snowball! is just pinball, nothing fancy but it was enjoyable. Couple achievements were tough for 100% but I kept going back and eventually I got them. The Adventure of NAYU has a nice art style but the gameplay was pretty mediocre. It’s just a clicker; no challenge, no “fun”, just kind of a time sink. A Tiny Sticker Tale was a nice puzzle game with a cheesy story. Only complaint is that two achievements are mutually exclusive, requiring two playthroughs to get them both. Cherry Tree High I! My! Girls! was disappointing. Visual novels aren’t really my thing at all, but I figured a story about a comedy club would be funny. I did not find it funny. Indecision. was like an experimental puzzle game. Some levels were bad, most were fine. Bad achievement requires beating the game 10 times and that left a bad taste in my mouth. Bit Blaster XL is a fine game, pretty simple SHMUP. It’s difficult to stay alive for a long time to get high scores, but the highest high score achievement is very easy. It’s a bit of a grind to get all the coins to unlock the ships and get the cumulative score needed for the final achievement, but it was an enjoyable grind. Shutshimi is tough! I decided to revisit it after playing it back in 2021. I like the idea of a SHMUP with these mini levels and different upgrades. Could be better if the upgrade descriptions were more descriptive. Beating the first loop isn’t too tough, but it is pretty difficult to beat the second loop and get the true ending. Frog Detective 3 is a lovely bite sized game. The payoff at the end is very wholesome and satisfying! Raven’s Hike was interesting and tough, had some unique gameplay. Monster Prom was frustrating and not fun. If I want to get rejected by everybody I ask out I can just go outside! Please, Don’t Touch Anything has a pretty good concept but I didn’t really enjoy my time with it that much. Super House of Dead Ninjas was kind of mid. I enjoy fast paced movement but the combat just felt unpolished. Beat The Game was weird and not very enjoyable. I can’t stand when games have no sense of direction. Potatoman Seeks the Troof is a good game. A bit of challenge, some humor, and it never overstayed it’s welcome.

Sokpop Games

Sokpop games are quite small. Ballspell is like Zuma with some fancy balls. Revisited and beat it after playing it back in 2022. Beating the game was not that bad but I gave up on final achievement. Yardlings is alright, I guess it’s an RTS game? Only tough achievement was stomping 10 enemies with one attack. Ollie & Bollie: Outdoor Estate is fun until you have to build a shed. That shit SUCKED. Di-Da-Dobble is just single player Yahtzee. n-body is a gravity game that I actually enjoyed, and the speedrun achievement was generous enough that I was able to get it on my second playthrough. clutchball is dodgeball, couldn’t get final achievement for reaching round 20, or maybe I just didn’t feel like trying anymore. capy hoky is ice hockey as a capybara, not bad at all! Bombini is a bee game where you collect pollen to spawn more bees and then defeat the spider boss. Not bad! dino game was kind of cool, you can feed dinos and ride in a UFO. Pupper park is just do some tasks as a pup in a park, the soccer was kind of fun. Post Cards was just 3 small puzzles.

Hidden Cats Games

Who doesn’t like finding hidden cats?

Ah funny the Sokpop little games, many are short but really cute ! Also i read you’ve finished several games that weren’t as good as you’d hoped, well done for sticking with them, and well at least they are finished - interesting feedback about please don’t touch anything.

I don’t like finding cats! Just kidding, I never tried, but I’m afraid to even start hahaha

Glad to hear you liked Pepper Grinder, I always see footage of it and it looks glorious hahaha I’m hoping to pick it up sometime. Did you enjoy Frog Detective 2? It was a bit of a letdown for me so I’m not sure I want to play the third one after that

RobbyRatpoison

I don’t remember disliking Frog Detective 2 so that means I probably enjoyed it. They aren’t breathtaking games but they are decent short experiences.

The first one was quaint and curious, the second one just felt a bit derivative. I didn’t dislike it, I just felt it was not worth my time the way the first one was and that has left me unsure about whether to try to win / buy the third one
