Progress Report #11: March 2024

9.4% (161/1668)
9.9% (166/1668)
4.1% (69/1668)
68.6% (1142/1668)
7.8% (130/1668)

Monthly tally - Backlog: 23, Yekhus: 10.5

Total play time: 54h

This is the month where I started really biting into the backlog, even if I'm still in the red. The main trick was playing a few very short games I had in there. I'll try doing more of that every month.

I'm satisfied with beating Turok and scratching it off. Sizable enough, and fun at first but a bit tedious over the last fifth of the game. Same for Reventure, which took a lot longer than I expected to complete. A very fun and interesting concept, but once again a bit too grindy and repetitive over the last stretch.

Progressed (3)

Excited to start Arx Fatalis. An old classic, but a great one to start exploring more the Immersive Sim genre. There are many great games in that genre which I have never tried over the years. A deeper exploration was long overdue, and this SG Win is the perfect excuse.

Also excited to finally start playing Stardew Valley. But since I'm doing it exclusively with my partner, it will be slow progress. Best case, you can expect to see it in this space month after month.

Tried and discarded (2)

Too many games, too little time. So whenever I try a game I can't be bothered to keep up, I scratch it off mercilessly. It's a win. But the rule is that I have to give it an honest try first.

Warriot

Congratz for Turok, this one is still in my backlog so need to keep playing it (only level 1 done).

Yekhus

Thank you! And how do you feel about it after playing that first level? Are you looking forward to the rest? Or did that first level put you off, somehow?

Warriot

Liked the first level, so will look forward to play the rest.

Zelrune

Congratulations on your assassinations!! ᓚᘏᗢ
I’ve never heard of Banyu Lintar Angin, what’s your impression of it? Also GL with Stardew!! I’ve never had success with multiplayer cooperation to finish a game or a play together thing, they always end up quitting.

Yekhus

Thank you my friend! That doesn’t sound very optimistic, for Stardew. But I’ll just have to see how far the journey goes, and enjoy it while it lasts.
To be clear, Banyu Lintar Angin can’t be called a game in any sense. It has zero interactivity. It’s just a very short graphic novel: a story told through static images, with a very slight touch of animated FX. But if that might still interest you, and as far as stories go, it was nice. In a minimal form, it conveyed a lot about the characters, their relationship, and their time together, and left me with a warm and cozy feeling… as odd as it might sound, felt a bit like remembering a very wholesome and happy childhood with siblings that I never had myself.
