The Final Station

This is a Steamgifts win. There is a zombie apocalypse and you are a train driver, so you need to take vital mechanical parts from point A to point B. And rescue some guys by the way. On every station you need to open the barrier on trails, by using a special code, which of course is always missing and you need to search for it. And your passangers need food and medicaments, which you can also find.

This game has two parts, one of which I like, and one I don’t. The part, where you are searching for code and supplies is quite nice. You are walking in 2d platform-like enviroment (although it is not a platformer - you cannot even jump), searching cabinets, fighting zombies with VEEEERY simple fighting mechanics (shoot or punch). The resources are rare, you are counting bullets all the time, and there can be some intence moments. Also I especially like the fact, that every level has some little backstory you can discover by enviro storytelling and some notes.

The second part is the ride itself. You have to monitor engines, and check your passengers, give them food and medicine, craft bullets, and talk with other drivers via phone. The main problem - I was just running frantically from one end of the train to another and checking everyone and everything. I couldn’t focus on storytelling and I lost at least one passenger, because I was listening to talks between guys and didn’t see, that he was starving. I would much rather just give them food on the beginning of the road and then just focus on story and crafting. Also - I like the feeling of the medicine, because I can use it on myself during the fight and I have this dillema - should I heal myself or keeping it for passengers. But the food was completely brainless - just give everyone who is starving a dose and hope that you picked enough.

Overall - I like this game - the exploring part was very addicting, and the rides - passable, but only because they were quick.

I was challenged to play this game.

You are an ill boy in a hospital. Your mum gave you access to magical book which will transport you to fantasy land. You are running back and forward between magical realm and the hospital, helping other patients and the fantasy creatures (whose mistically have the same names and problems as patients…).

I really like this game. It has To The Moon vibe, but it actually has some gameplay - it’s basically an adventure game. The story is good, of course there are some saaaad moments, but there is a lot of fun too. I like the fact that you don’t heal patients - you are solving their psychological problems. The riddles are quite simple, but fun, and there is just a bit of metroidvania elements, which encourage you to visit all the places multiple times. My only problem is that there is A LOT of cutscenes. Especially in the second part of the game. The forth case was really cutscene heavy. I have suspitions that developer had some ideas which didn’t work and had to rescue the game by those walls of dialogs. Other than that - great game.

Two games down, but two new games came to me. This backlog doesn’t want to be shorter.

Also thought parts of The Final Station where enjoyable. I would instal it again, if they make a proper randomly generated endless mode for it. Could be fun

I wouldn’t count of it - they would need to do this whole randomization alghorytm. Maybe Final Station 2?
