December summary

It’s the end of the month… and that means an update on played games!

First off, I tried The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. I think it’s okay so far, but the constant dying and replaying is just a tad frustrating at times. (I know this is basically the concept of the game, but the slow and unsteady pacing kind of puts me off a bit…) The story is interesting though, so I can probably get back into it again in the near future.

And then the Winter Sale came.

And so I bought Life is Strange: Before the Storm and immediately played it. I’ve been wanting to buy it since it was announced, to be honest, but I restrained myself from doing so because of financial concerns. Until this sale. I know it’s the same price as it was in the last sale, but I just couldn’t wait any longer. (I’m sorry, inner frugal self…)

Honestly? I’d say it was 100% worth it. It took me a few days to complete the game because my laptop kept heating up while playing so I only ran it at about an hour or so at maximum every time, but it was worth the trouble and effort. I really love both games in the franchise so far. And yes, perhaps both have been a bit… lacking in the endings department (according to many people), but what I really appreciate in the LiS games is the middle; I appreciate the story in its whole, and the characters’ development as well.

Here’s to hoping LiS2 will be as awesome or even better.

After completing Before the Storm, I got that feeling of emptiness after you finish something you feel very strongly about. So I thought about playing casual games instead of embarking on yet another heavy story-based game.

I looked at my SG wins and picked Serial Cleaner. It’s… an interesting game. It’s a stealth game, and it’s funnily frustrating as hell. I haven’t finished the story mode yet, but I’ll try to do so during the next months. I blame myself for being somewhat of an achievement hunter. Because of that, I progress slower since I try to 100% every stage. ;-;

I played Overcooked with my little sister as well. We just tried it for the heck of it, and it was actually really fun… and also exasperating, especially when your sister is not very good at the game. Still very fun to play, though.

Aaaaand that's it for this year! (...I think?)

I don’t think I’ll get significant playtime for the last day of the year since I’ll probably get dragged around for New Year’s anyway, so I just did this post today instead.

Hoping (again…) that I can get to play more stuff next year!

Happy new year, everyone! :)

Aw damn. I decided to give up on Hand of Fate for this very same reason just a few days ago, intended to play Warlock of Firetop Mt. some time soon(TM). Looks like I’ll have to reconsider, not quite in the mood for another frustrating experience :/

Heheh, I won Searial Cleaner on SG the other day, too! Not very happy to hear that it’s “frustrating as hell”, I find nothing funny about that. Would be a shame to put another SG win on the “Won’t Play” list because of a ridiculous difficulty.

Happy new year to you as well! :)

I just get frustrated by Serial Cleaner because I tend to be impatient (I try to rush the play sometimes so I get caught when I do this), but it’s really fun. It’s not really very difficult, just frustrating for me because I like to have 100% if I can, so I replay the levels sometimes and I mostly tend to get impatient during levels I’ve already played since I know how to do it already. :D You just need to be a bit patient and observant during levels. (But both of those are not my best qualities, so… ;-;)

You just described me! That is exactly what I tend to do too :D
Good to know the game itself isn’t brutally difficult after all, thanks for sharing your opinions :)

A friend gifted me Serial Cleaner for Xmas, it’s nice to hear that is fun if you’re patient as Dark Souls prepared me for anything on that skill

Aww, I won it last week on SG because I wanted to check it out but maybe I should hold it back a couple weeks :3

Happy new year! And congrats on the progress. I’ve been trying to hold on before buying LiS BtS but it’s being more and more tempting, especially when reading good opinions. I’m not sure why it’s getting either real good or real bad reviews.

That’s what I’m seeing as well; people either love it or hate it, haha! I think those who liked LiS’s essence and atmosphere would likely love BtS. I’m not saying it’s perfect or anything, but personally I liked it a lot, as I think it captured the elements that made LiS a good experience for me. :D
