DEATH STRANDING

I really was worried about this one. After I didn't finish Metal Gear Solid V bc it was to… gross for me, I feared this one was on the same level. And yes, in a way it is also gross and disgusting. Luckily it still was on the okay side for me. Not only that - it also makes me rethink my decision with Metal Gear Solid. But who knows.
Anyway. DEATH STRANDING. As the name already says, death is the big fat red line in this game. The dead manifest in places and try to pull our poor MC over to the other side - or someplace really. Sam Porter Bridges - really confusing with his name - in the meantime is just a humble porter who carries stuff from A to B. Well, stuff that isn't printable, like food, medicine, old stuff, ppl… But he also get's the massive job of reconnecting the former United States. Sure a big job for one man. Until other ppl also start running around. And this is where gamers come into the equation. Bc while we can't interact with each other or see the other players, it is possible to use things the've build (and build with them stuff by adding materials), see signs they placed and even carry stuff for them, or them for us. Plus if Sam hollers and some player is in the same location there is a ping on the screen which indicates where the other person is. So even without seeing them, you know they are there, which adds a nice little note to the game.

Honestly, I really loved the whole running around and delivering stuff. On the way I was fighting a couple of delivery addicts who tried to steal my cargo, always warding off the dead if they come by - they only do in really heavy rain, so gotta check the weather! Or… just don't bother and deal with them xD Plus organizing a smooth operation with building roads and buildings to help on the way. I really really enjoyed that.

The story. Yes, the story is an interesting thing. I was really into learning all the sidestories of the NPCs and getting deeper and deeper into the theme behind the death stranding. Then, after I finished all the big collection achievements, I went on with the main story… and while it seems like a conclusion… it lacked the surprise. I guess the story just hinted enough along the way to figure quite a lot out already so when the big surprises came - I guess there were supposed to be surprises? - they were just an "okay" moment for me, bc I already figured it out. And instead of a big fat "yay, we did it", it's a massive pause button. Which in itself is okay, bc someone is stepping up for the rest. I kinda had hoped for something bigger… more hopeful though. So that was the anti-surprise I guess. Still, it made sense. It seems complete and yes, there might be errors in logic, but if I noticed, they didn't really bother me.

So yes. I absolutely recommend this game! I loved it! And I could totally deliver more and more and more. Just… you know the old backlog and stuff. Plus it's nice to be done with a game, right? \o/
