February 2024

Oooh, some interesting games there. What did you think of Creaks, Lost Words, and FRAMED Collection?

HurrJackal1
  • Creaks: Really good atmosphere, pretty good puzzle design, slightly overlong cut-scenes (skippable, but I’d prefer not to)
  • Lost Words: Pretty mediocre puzzler/platformer not helped by a narrative focusing on trauma.
  • FRAMED: Very stylish puzzler, occasionally surprisingly difficult given the simple mechanics. Worth trying the wrong thing to see what happens.

Hey, thanks for the reply and the useful, concise thoughts. Perfect.

Congratulations on your assassinations!!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Looks like you had a pretty good variety of games going for February, which one was your favorite?

HurrJackal1

Thanks. Probably Over the Alps – a well-written visual novel. Unfortunately the company died without releasing the third case (they indicated they’d release it as-is on itch.io, but that’s yet to happen and may not)

Congratulations! So many games! I really enjoyed Darq. And Grime is on my backlog. Really curious about that one.

Thanks - not quite as impressive as it looks given I’d done significant chunks of some of the games prior to the month, and four of the games were trivially short. Grime is a reasonably good Fromsoft meets Ori 2 metroidvania - learning when and what to parry reliably helps, but the game is still fairly brutal (and apparently NG+ is significantly nastier).
