January 2026
Great start of the year. I managed to beat 3 out of my 7 PoP picks, including the two longest games of the bunch (Mad Max and Coromon). Turns out joining PoP gave me the nudge needed to tackle those longer games that used to overwhelm me previously. I’ll try to beat the remaining PoP picks this month and then focus a bit more on my personal backlog in March. I’m not done with Mad Max thou. The game is beaten but is so much fun that I frequently boot it up again to play for a few hours and progress a bit on the side quests. I won’t 100% it because it has some annoying racing-related achievements that I don’t enjoy, but I’ll try to clear the map 100% which will take a while, but will be fun.

What was your favorite Mon’ in Coromon? I loved all the dog themed ones but Moffel stole my heart, and I ended up catching a color of each for the “Ultimate Fan” achievement.
Also - I’m interested in playing Mad Max but I never picked it up because I read somewhere it was impossible to 100% due to online account shenanigans(?)… there are ways around that cough SAM cough but lemme know how that goes for ya!
Hmmmm Moffel is a good choice. Utility wise, I caught one with a good trait early on and then kept it as a Digmow for most of the game. It carried me through the first half, whereas my Megalobite and my Blazitaur carried me through the second half. Design-wise, I really liked Houndos, Lunarpup, Kyraptor, Seraphace, Otogy, Lemobi, Arctiram and Taddle. Centila was also a fun one hahaha I might have listed too many, but they had some really strong designs there
As for Mad Max, I think the one or two achievements requiring online play can also be achieved by loading a Save Game available on Nexus Mods, so you might still avoid SAM and get 100% on it. I don’t love the driving in the game, it feels really slippery and I have no intent to get all racing-related achievements but I think I’ll eventually get all the others (exploration and upgrade-based). The problem is that I just started Sleeping Dogs, which also rocks, and having two open world games to play at once is such a hurdle hahahaha but a good one!
