A little report of the games I have finished by now.
Good game with a very entertaining plot and amazing characters, but seriously, there was some stuff about the gameplay that ticked me off.
… I’m talking of that boss with a 1-hit kill. That was terrible for a game where the whole party loses if the protagonist gets knocked out. I can’t help but think they are details result of the inexperience the company has with turn-based combat. But beyond that, it was an amazing game.
The game goes from a bland beginning, to a more entertaining middle part, and eventually gets bothersome. Because, as it involves a lot of puzzles (easy ones, though) that need to constantly recharge energy to use certain skills, it creates a sense of backtracking.
Then some of the final chapters or so are a bit of a mess.
Chapter 6 has a bunch of potential… for you to mess up and end up blocked needing to quit and continue from the last save point. It has some… not bugs, but mistakes of design that can let you trapped with no way to continue if you dont do what the game expects you to do. You can break it too easily…
And then chapter 7… Its you walking around through a huge forest with no clear goal and getting lost even with a game mechanic supposed to guide you. This level is simply too big and ambiguous for you to navigate it well. Frankly, it almost causes me to drop the game and its the main reason for this score.

Congratz for your 93h completion on a Yakuza !
Oh interesting seeing a different opinion of spirit of the north. Granted I haven’t read anything about it other then believing it to be a liked game. But with all the foxes in the group I might just be getting myself confused
Reading chapter 7 is just reminding me of the last part to freud gate, it starts of so linear then at the end goal it opens up to a big field and I had no idea where I was going so I ran everywhere for about an hour breaking the game. Had to reset the thing as I fell through the map just to learn its just slightly to the left but as far as I can see nothing tells you where the end part is. Just run in that direction and hope you hit the tiny hitbox
I think the worst part about the seventh level is the fact you dont know what your goal here.
You play as a fox… one with spiritual powers, but still an animal, so theres no actual dialogue ever, and you have no message on screen telling you what you are supposed to do. So you advance through the levels solving puzzles to unlock your path forwards.
…But then the chapter 7 has you appear on this huge island, needing you to visit a certain place, but you don’t know that, and it makes you get lost. Your only guide are statues you can bark to, and they generate lights that vaguely show you the way for some seconds until they dissapear and you have to find the next statue… But even then its easy to get lost, and you could roam around without finding an statue or not even knowing the statues exist and can guide you.
Even finding a video guide to complete the level can be difficult because there’s an achievement that requires walking around the entire map to meet spirits, and most videos focus on that.
…Anyways, I may be complaining a lot because the game frustrated me a lot haha
