I am new to BLAEO. Here are 1 question and 1 suggestion when I organizing my blacklog.

Can anyone tell me what is the different of Beaten and Completed?

Moreover, I believe it will be better to add 3 more progress
a. abandoned, which mean you played the game but for some reason you decided not to continous . e.g. the game has bugs, or you stuck in the game and don’t know how to continous, or simply you get bored.
b. Played in other platform. For some games that I already played in other platforms, or some old game I played before Steam, I may just collect them in Steam as a compensate of childhold memory. I probably won’t play on Steam anymore.
c. Next Game to Play, just to give myself a indication that the game I plan to play in near future.

First of all, welcome to blaeo! :D
Now, I consider a game beaten when I finish the main story and completed when I got all the achievements, completed all the side quests and managed to play all different options (characters, endings, etc) in the game. Of course it depends on how each game is but that’s mainly what I go for.

For the suggestions, you can always create lists and add the games in them. I believe that’s the general approach around here refering to these 3 categories.

Thanks.
I saw the description in uncategorized list. Same as your explanation.
Yes and thanks for your advice. I created an abandone list to put the games that I played but not finished and won’t play it again. Or I played in other platform.

Welcome!

As you noticed, on ‘uncategorized’ there are explanations for all the categories. Can’t remember if it’s stated there or somewhere else (so not sure if you found this out already), but abandoned games go to ‘won’t play’ as well.

When it comes to completing games outside of Steam, you can either mark them as ‘Beaten’ or ‘Completed’ or ‘Won’t Play’ or ‘Never Played’ depending on what you want. Generally, using the categories is very personal. F.ex. you can simply mark them ‘Won’t Play’ or mark them ‘Won’t Play’ and create a tag (list) of ‘completed outside of Steam’.

And as a side note and an example of personal tastes, I personally mark games without achievements as ‘Completed’ if I have done everything in the game. Otherwise just ‘Beaten’. Some people reserve ‘Completed’ solely for games with achievements, but this works for me. :)

Hey, welcome to BLAEO! :)
Me, I’m using the Completed category for games where I obtained 100% of the achievs (not counting the bugged ones). Everything else that I played to the end goes to Beaten :) And as kayhmkay said, the Won’t play category is used for abandoned games as well ;)

You can create your own tags btw (for the “play next” or whatever else might come to your mind) ;)

Welcome to BLAEO! :) I see you’ve already got good advice for your questions, but if you haven’t seen it yet I recommend you to check out this guide. Our member tso184 wrote it just a few days ago and it includes a lot of good tips on using this site.

Thanks for all your advice, especially @uguleley, tso184’s Beginner Guide is very useful.
