Just finished Toby: The Secret Mine, not really liked it, played just after Limbo and it feels like a game trying to imitate it, but it cannot. Some puzzles are “find the secret room” type, and I think it is not very fear… Some others are literally “try&error”, not something you may think before trying… And some others that forces you to “learn” the path to make it in time, what I did not enjoyed much too :(

The game was short, it finished just before I get bored of it. I cannot recommend it, at least at full price, but could deserve a try with a discount.

Ok the limbo vibe is very storng with Toby, I end up with the same conclusion as you. Hidden rooms in the fucking ground leaving no hint is pain in the ass, I end up running to every corner and eventually found every room except couple which were hidden in the “air” ground xD. Even more when I was playing the game there were no achievements and I just finish the game when they included achievements, but when they updated the game something went wrong and deleted my saves. There were couple of more people with same problem. There is nothing more frustrating than something to go wrong with your saves.
I got the game for like 1 euro and I felt dissapointed.

Nice! Toby: The Secret Mine is my latest win on Steamgifts, and LIMBO was my very first :) It was actually the likeness to LIMBO that made me wishlist Toby in the first place. Looking forward to playing it, even if it isn’t as good as LIMBO.

A small note: most users here use the “completed”/blue category for games where they get 100% achievements, and the “beaten”/green category for the ones with the main story finished but not all achievements :)

I think nearly everyone buying Toby (it cost me like 1€) was looking for to continue the experience felt with LIMBO, but it fails a little when comparing to it :( It may not be fear, so Toby it’s not as bad as it may feel after Limbo.

About “completed status”, I know people like to use “completed” when they get 100% of achievements, but some games are nearly impossible to get all or needs you to do things that are not really enjoyable (like getting lots of random items). I’m using “completed” as something like “done all I wanted to do, so probably not playing anymore” and “beaten” for “basic completed, but may replay or get some more achievements in the future” :D
