Update 14: Games of July

Well during the first two weeks of July my niece and nephew were visiting me and we played some games together. My nephew is a great Lego and Star Wars fan so the first two game choices were easy.

Games I played with my nephew:

LEGO® Star Wars™: The Complete Saga

Played it in co-op with my 9-year-old nephew. Had a lot of fun doing so and was honestly schooled by my nephew for the first few levels since he played those on xbox already.

If you know the first 6 films you know what to expect story wise, so no surprises here.
Simply Star Wars just with Legos XD

Since I only had one controller my nephew got it since the controlls are far easier on controller than kb, which was left for me :-/
Keyboard controlls are hard, though a few times prefereable to the controller. Had to reconfigure the key settings to use both hands equally though.
What I did not particularly liked was the fact that there was only one screen. Playing co-op with a nine year-old can be rather challenging. You are trying to get to something valuable on the left side while he just wants to go through the door on the right… it might have got heated sometimes XD
Anyways it was lots of fun.

Played it in co-op with my 9-year-old nephew. Had a lot of fun doing so. This one my nephew did not know, so we were on equal ground. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to see what we needed to do to get further but I simply googled it the few times we were completely stumped.

Controlls wise this was exactly the same as the last one and if you are going to play it I would suggest using a controller.

The one thing that I liked more here than in the other Lego Star wars one is the split screen. Only in certain areas you have one screen. Everywhere else each player gets half the screen. On the one hand this makes it far easier to play since each player can choose where ever they want to go, but on the other hand finding the other player when you need to can be hard.

Overall a nice experience and I'll have to complete the game some time. But for that I will probably need to replay the levels serveral times with different characters to get to everything.

Played it in co-op with my 9-year-old nephew. Started playing this with my nephew on his last day here and we were not very far when he had to leave. Had to promise that I won't play it further without him. So far I like playing as Black Widdow or Captain America most.

Controlls are a bit different to the Lego Star Wars games, but not by much. Still would prefer controller over keyboard. and this one also has the split screen for co-op play.

A rating will follow once I've played more of it.

3 days: Zoo Mystery

This one I played with my niece and my nephew or better said I let them play by themselves until about level 14/27. The story is so so. Your uncle, the zoo owner is traveling on buisness and someone stole some animals and you have to find them before the zoo inspectors come and close the zoo, because of the missing animals. So in order to stop that you have to solve some hidden object scenes or puzzles. It's not the first HOG I played but one of the hardest to find everything without any hints. Some of the things were nearly impossible to see, like something black in a black background or similar. The puzzles and other mini games in between were actually fun and a nice change in gameplay. But some were impossible to solve because of a missing puzzle pieces. Luckily you can play a hidden object scene instead.

Another negative is that you are having a lot of problems with double pictures and fragmantes of previous ones still there. Not sure how to describe that properly so here is a picutre. Luckily this is not in the ho scene, but still it is irritating. You can sometimes straighten them out by hovering over them with the mouse.

Games I played for PoP:

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Not a really big fan of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Would have been probably better in multiplayer. Have the feeling that it was made for that. Some of the challenges were pretty hard all alone :(
I didn't really hate it, but I'm also not loving it.

Really liked this game. So much so that i bought the pre-quel and LiS2 before being finished with the first one.

I liked the game, but not the ending. To say you can only save either Chloe or the city is rather stupid. Why not travel back, photograph Nathan with the gun and pull the alarm. This way you have proof of him with the gun. He can get exspelled and everyone can live happily ever after ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

By the way my true ending is Chloe, sorry Arkadia.

Liked the game, both the sneaking around part and the reckless killings, well near the end I was not so much for stealth killings since they took too long. What I did not like, were the constant crashes without warning. Sometimes I had to load the game 4-5 times for it even to start properly, just so that it could run without any problems for hours on end. And then the next day it would crash after 10 minutes or 2 hours. And since you cannot really save in this game (only pre-determined spots that you first have to reach) this can mean that you might loose several hours of playtime.

Overall I probably played 4-5 hours more because of lost progress.

An interesting board game. Reminded me a lot of the old RPG board games I played as a teen with my friends.
Only played it in single player, but I can imagine the fun will double when playing with friends.

A solid Solitaire game. Nothing fancy. Only had ingame achievements which I all earned. You can earn extra undos and extra cards to play in each game and save them up. You should since you will need them for the last few chapters, since the cards of your stack re only few. You earn in-game money which you can use to buy other card decks that you like better.

First I played the remastered version since it was the newer of the two and promised better game mechanics. Really nice Solitaire game that I wholeheartedly can recommend. Only thing I did not like are the egg and the material drop rates. I've played nearly 30 hours, but I'm still missing eggs. And let's not talk about the materials that you need for evoling the pets. Will have to play more of it in the future to get the final achievements.

Then I played the first version since this was what I actually won on SG. Even the first version was nice Solitaire game that I wholeheartedly can recommend. Only thing I did not like are the material drop rates (they somehow fixed the egg drop rates or I was just simply pretty darn lucky). Only played about 18h of it and have all my eggs, but am still missing a lot of materials. Will have to play more of it in the future to get the final achievements.

And two games I have not yet finished or completed :

Still need to finish 7 more levels of Shadwen in a kill-em-all playthrough. And am only half way through Snake Pass. Lost the patience for that one.

July was also not a good month for my backlog. If I’m not mistaken I bought/won/was gifted 31 new games in July plus some DLC’s and have beaten/completed 10 games. That means +21 for my backlog ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve tried to play 3 days:Zoo Mystery but the weird bug that you describe just got too much and I just abandon it. It’s really too bad because it wasn’t a horrible game…

What helped me was trying to avoid the outside area’s to the left, so no “mouse fragments” and for the “double vision” under the hidden object scene one passover with the mouse usually helped to clear the picture enough to play. At least for me.
