Hi there,
what to tell about me? Hmm, well let’s see. Most of my game buys are impulse buys…Well don’t judge me. Other women buy shoes or make-up, I buy video games XD
I will try to beat as many games as I can each month (right now I am at at least 1 each week), but unfortunately I’m a grown up with a job, so my progress usually depends on how much spare time I have.
Since I’m a member of Playing Appreciated all wins of that group have priority (since they need to be played within a month of winning).
What I want to achieve in 2026
- get my SG win played percentage up to 60% (still working on that one) at 57,8% atm
- let’s try sth different this time around. How about get at least one 10+ year old game per month done (I did okay with that considering I was sick and not playing games for nearly 2 months. Let’s try this again in 2026!
- wrangle my backlog into submission and make him stop screaming 😱
Update 153: February 2026
Already through the second month of the year and I am nearly back to full time work. Guess the world is getting more normal by the minute. At least for me.
The Plan lets you play as a fly on a brief, inevitable journey to death. Conceptually interesting, but gameplay is minimal and unremarkable. The one achievement is frustratingly buggy, required multiple crashes until it unlocked. Short and forgettable.
Dogwalk is a charming, free little stroll with your doggy companion. You wander through a cozy environment, collecting snowman pieces along the way. Simple, cute, and relaxing, it’s a sweet micro-game that’s perfect for a brief, stress-free experience — more heartwarming than challenging.
An Arcade Full of Cats is an adorable hidden-object game where you hunt cats throughout history. The free content is generous, and the inexpensive DLC adds more levels. Relaxing and cute, it’s not an achievement-spam game — you only earn achievements for completing a level, not every single cat.
Disco Elysium is a bold, narrative-driven RPG that excels in giving players freedom and choice. The concept and storytelling are great, offering a world rich with dialogue, personality, and consequence. However, it can be overwhelmingly wordy at times, slowing the pacing and making some sections feel dense. The open-ended approach is liberating, letting you craft your detective however you like, but it also makes achievement hunting daunting. Despite this, the game’s depth, writing, and unique mechanics make it something different in a sea of the usual RPGs.
Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of The Baskervilles offers clever puzzles and a faithful detective experience, HOGs and all, but frequent crashes severely undermine the fun. While the mystery and problem-solving are enjoyable, having to replay sections multiple times due to instability makes it frustrating, turning a promising game into a mixed experience.
Hitman: Blood Money delivers classic stealth gameplay with varied, creative missions that keep each assassination fresh. Timing can be frustrating, and the graphics are showing their age, but the level design, freedom of approach, and satisfying mechanics make it a pretty decent game in the series, even years later.
Re:Fresh seemed like a chill collecting game but turns into a platformer with time trials, thank god they are not needed for completing the game. The controls aren’t perfect, which makes precision tricky. Cute visuals and charming presentation give it some appeal, but it may frustrate players who aren’t fans of platformers.

Update 153: January 2026
How has the first month of the year already gone? It was long and short at the same time. Spent most of it in a rehab clinic after my recent hospital stay. But hey good news. I am finally allowed to return to work. Yay.
Forest Home is a charming puzzle game with a cozy, inviting aesthetic and surprisingly deep mechanics. Its cute art and tranquil forest setting make each level feel like a stroll through a whimsical woodland, but don’t let that fool you—some puzzles are sneakily tough, especially if you’re aiming for 100 % completion. The challenge ramps up in thoughtful, satisfying ways that reward patience and clever thinking more than reflexes. It’s a game that’s easy to enjoy in short bursts, yet rich enough to pull you back in when you’re chasing that next perfect solution. A delightful mix of zen and grit.
A Normal Lost Phone is a beautifully sincere narrative experience that turns phone exploration into a deeply human journey. By reading messages, photos, and apps from a lost device, you slowly uncover the life of its owner and the challenges they face. What starts as curiosity becomes genuine empathy, particularly as the story touches on the real struggles of LGBTQ+ youth. The game handles identity, isolation, and self-discovery with sensitivity and nuance rarely seen in interactive media. It’s not about puzzles or combat, but about connection
inbento is an adorably charming puzzle game that blends delightful visuals with surprisingly thoughtful challenges. Its lunchtime-themed levels are cute and whimsical, pulling you in with bright colors and playful character design. But don’t let the adorable bento boxes fool you — while many puzzles start out easy and satisfying, later stages introduce genuinely tough brain-teasers that demand patience, careful planning, and occasional head-scratching. The difficulty curve isn’t uniform — some levels are breezy, others are fiendishly clever — which keeps the experience fresh and engaging. inbento is a lovely mix of cozy aesthetics and satisfying puzzle complexity.
Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a gentle, nostalgic adventure that captures the spirit of the Moomin universe with warmth and whimsy. Guided by a mellow, melodic soundtrack, players explore lush landscapes, solve light puzzles, and interact with familiar faces, all grounded in a calming, storybook atmosphere. The game’s charm comes from its relaxed pace and heartfelt moments, making it feel like a cozy stroll through a beloved childhood memory. It isn’t about high-stakes action, but about savoring the journey, the music, and the soft, reflective world it invites you into.
Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story builds on the familiar phone-based narrative of its predecessor while telling a story that feels both different and deeply personal. Exploring Laura’s messages, photos, and apps slowly reveals a life shaped by control, fear, and self-doubt. Trigger warning: the game deals with themes of emotional and abusive relationships. While the structure mirrors A Normal Lost Phone, the focus here is heavier and more uncomfortable in an intentional way. It handles its subject matter with care, never sensationalizing it, and encourages empathy and reflection. It’s a quiet, unsettling narrative experience that stays with you long after you put the phone down.
The Cub is a beautifully crafted platformer that even someone who usually struggles with the genre can enjoy. The world is atmospheric and melancholic, yet undeniably cute, with hand-drawn visuals and a strong sense of storytelling through its environments. While there are moments where the platforming gets tricky (and yes, I absolutely messed up more than once), the game’s charm makes those frustrating bits easier to forgive. It never feels punishing, just gently challenging. Combined with its soothing soundtrack and emotional undertones, The Cub becomes a platformer you don’t have to be good at to appreciate — you just have to be willing to keep going.
SimCity 4 is a deeply nostalgic city builder that still shines when it comes to depth and freedom. Designing cities from the ground up, managing traffic, zoning, and budgets can be incredibly satisfying, especially if you grew up with the game. However, from a modern standpoint, the lack of structured missions or clear goals can make the experience feel a bit dull or aimless at times. It’s very much a sandbox, and while that’s a strength, it also means motivation has to come entirely from the player. Still, for fans of classic city builders and slow, thoughtful planning, SimCity 4 remains a comforting and rewarding trip down memory lane.
Letters – a written adventure is a really cute and heartfelt story game that stands out thanks to its unique word-picking mechanic. Choosing words to shape sentences and thoughts makes the gameplay feel fresh and personal, almost like you’re co-writing the story as it unfolds. The puzzles are gentle and accessible, never overly hard, which keeps the focus on the narrative and emotional beats rather than frustration. The art style and presentation add to the cozy atmosphere, making it easy to get absorbed in the characters’ lives. It’s a short but charming experience, perfect if you’re in the mood for something calm, creative, and quietly touching.

Update 152: December 2025
Still struggeling with recovery after my hospital stay and but my energy is slowly returning. The end of 2025 was a nightmare for my backlog, not because I won or bought so many games, but because I have an crazy amount of friends that buried me under snow. Thanks to every last one of them <3
Golf With Your Friends is a fun and chaotic multiplayer mini-golf game that shines best with friends, but is still enjoyable solo. The courses are creative and varied, often introducing clever mechanics that keep things interesting. Some holes can be surprisingly difficult, especially on the later or more gimmicky courses, which adds both challenge and frustration. Playing alone is great for learning layouts and improving your skills, while multiplayer sessions quickly turn into hilarious messes of bad shots and friendly trash talk. Probably gonna pick this one up again.
F.E.A.R. 3 is, in my opinion, the weakest entry in the trilogy. It plays like a fairly generic shooter, lacking the atmosphere, tension, and clever AI that made the earlier games stand out. The horror elements feel toned down, and most encounters blur together without anything truly memorable. Technical issues didn’t help either: the game crashed multiple times, forcing restarts, and repeatedly dropped into windowed mode in the middle of gameplay, which was especially frustrating. While it’s not outright terrible, it feels uninspired and rough around the edges, making it a disappointing finale to an otherwise strong series.

Update 151: October and November 2025
Still struggeling with recovery after my hospital stay and not much energy for gaming sadly.
Anna’s Quest is a charming little point-and-click adventure with a sweet fairy-tale vibe and a dark edge underneath. You play as Anna, a brave girl with telekinetic powers, trying to rescue her grandfather while dealing with witches, weird scientists, and plenty of quirky characters. The puzzles are mostly logical and never too frustrating, making it friendly even for players who don’t usually play the genre. The art style is cute, simple, and cozy, which fits the tone perfectly. The story has heart, a few emotional moments, and enough humor to stay light. Overall, an enjoyable adventure worth playing.
X-COM: Enforcer is a strange entry in the X-COM series, but taken on its own it’s a surprisingly fun third-person shooter. It’s simple: run in, blast aliens, rescue civilians, repeat. The levels are short and fast, and even today the shooting feels fairly smooth for such an old game. Don’t expect deep tactics like the main series, and the story is basically just “aliens bad, robot go pew pew,” but the arcade style keeps things entertaining. Visually it’s dated, yet there’s a certain charm. If you enjoy retro action shooters and don’t mind repetition, it’s an oddly satisfying throwback, though by the end I found it too repetitive.
Sakura MMO is a very typical Sakura-style visual novel: light fantasy plot, cute anime girls, and a heavy focus on fan-service. You play as a modern woman transported into an online world, and most of the story revolves around meeting magical girls and getting involved in suggestive situations. The writing is simple, the choices mostly cosmetic, and it leans strongly into flirtatious scenes, including a bit of mild BDSM tone, but nothing too explicit. If you already enjoy Sakura games, this gives you exactly what you expect. If not, the repetition and predictable story might put you off. Overall: playful, niche fun.

Update 150: October 2025
Nothing much happened this month. I’m still recovering with minimal gaming time. So no big update today. Will do a normal one again in November.
Update 149: September 2025
This is the one that I barely survived, but in the end I am still on this earth. Two weeks in the hospital and a new diagnosis of diabetes and my life is completely turned around.
Mages of Mystralia is a charming adventure game where you play as Zia, a young mage learning to control her powers. The highlight is the clever spellcrafting system that lets you build and customize your own magic — fun, creative, and unique. The story is simple, the world colorful and cozy. Combat can get a bit repetitive, yet experimenting with spells keeps it fresh.
Blanc is a cozy, wordless adventure about a lost fawn and wolf cub finding their way home. The hand-drawn art is stunning, and the teamwork-based gameplay feels gentle and heartfelt. Some puzzles can be a bit confusing, but the calm pace and emotional story make it worth it. A short, beautiful journey about friendship and home.

Update 148: August 2025
Summer is nearly over, where did the year go?
The WereCleaner is a quirky, free indie game with a clever twist: you play a janitor cursed as a werewolf, forced to work night shifts while wolfed out. The premise is simple but fun—you’ll roam around cleaning up the aftermath of your own midnight rampages, as well as tidying messes left by others. The mix of dark humor and mundane cleaning tasks makes for a surprisingly charming experience. It’s short, polished enough to enjoy in one sitting, and perfect as a palate cleanser between bigger games. Not deep or complex, but it nails its weird, cute concept.
Stray Cats in Cozy Town is an adorable hidden object scene rather than a full game. Your task is simple: find 100 hidden cats scattered throughout a charming town, along with a few extra items. The hand-drawn art style is cozy, making the hunt feel warm and inviting. Difficulty is moderate—some cats are easy to spot, while others are cleverly tucked away, keeping the search engaging without becoming frustrating. It’s short and sweet.
Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator is a cozy and relaxing game where you wash away grime and restore the environment, giving each level a satisfying sense of renewal. The visuals are bright and cheerful, and the overall vibe is meditative, making it easy to lose track of time while cleaning. I loved how calming the gameplay felt. That said, I did run into two frustrating softlocks that forced me to redo entire levels, I got stuck in a wall and behind a fence, which broke the flow and was pretty annoying.
Dogs Organized Neatly is a charming little puzzle game that perfectly captures the joy of its concept—arranging adorable pups into tidy grids. Each level introduces new breeds with quirky poses, making the challenge feel fresh. The puzzles strike a nice balance between relaxing and brain-teasing, never overstaying their welcome but always leaving you smiling once everything clicks into place. The art style is irresistibly cute. It’s short, sweet, and incredibly wholesome—a delightful entry in a series I already love.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a good RPG that shines with its massive roster and engaging story. I really enjoyed recruiting so many different heroes, each with their own personalities, and the fact that the game is fully voiced added a lot of charm and immersion. The world feels alive, and the narrative kept me hooked for most of the journey. That said, the way characters and their skills are explained could have been much clearer—I often felt lost about who was truly useful. Because of that, I ended up relying on the same party most of the time.
Max Payne is a classic that shows its age. The story is still fantastic, told through stylish comic book panels that remain a highlight even today. Its noir atmosphere and bullet time mechanics were groundbreaking, and the narrative kept me engaged throughout. Unfortunately, the gameplay hasn’t aged well—the graphics look dated, the UI feels clunky, and I often struggled with movement. Getting stuck in walls or fighting with the camera was frustrating, and the nightmare sequences were more painful than fun due to the poor controls. Still, beneath the rough edges, there’s a gem of a story worth experiencing.

Update 147: July 2025
My bday came and went and my backlog suffered, the poor thing, but hey at least I did not buy stuff during sale ^_^
Tinytopia is a fun and quirky little city-builder that’s surprisingly addictive at first. Stacking buildings and creating bigger combos feels clever and satisfying, and the toy-like charm is great. But after a while, the fun starts to fade — some levels feel downright insane in difficulty (who thought building on a bike pedal, turn table or tight rope was a good idea) , and the building placement can be frustrating. Lining things up just right to make larger structures often feels more broken than rewarding. It’s still enjoyable for a while, but the rough edges keep it from being as good as it could be.
Pretty fun overall and a nice way to kill time. Most of the puzzles are relaxing and enjoyable, but some of the pictures were just horrible to solve and felt more frustrating than anything else. Still worth it if you like puzzle games.
Enjoyed it, even if the constant dying can definitely get on your nerves — but that’s kind of the whole point with Dark Souls. The challenge is tough but fair, and finally overcoming an area or boss feels good. A frustrating but rewarding experience.
Fun little puzzle game that I really enjoyed. The puzzles are clever enough to keep you thinking without being overly frustrating. It’s a nice, relaxing experience overall and worth checking out if you’re into puzzle games.
Really fun game, kind of like Overcooked but with fixing cars instead of cooking. It’s chaotic in the best way, can't really say much about coop since I did not play it in coop
Interesting little visual novel with a creepy atmosphere. I really loved that it was fully voice acted, and the quality was surprisingly good. Definitely worth a read if you’re into VNs.

Update 146: June 2025
Half the year is done and I don’t know where the time has gone. Played some great story driven games this month.
I found the game surprisingly fun. It's a story-driven action game that delivers way more than you'd expect from a licensed title. You play as Star-Lord, leading the iconic crew through a galaxy-spanning adventure full of banter, heartfelt moments, and stylish combat.
I loved the combat. You control Peter directly but can command your teammates mid-fight, creating satisfying combo attacks. The game keeps things fresh with ability upgrades, varied enemies, and the 80s-fueled “huddle” mechanic.
The writing is strong, with great character dynamics that feel authentic and funny without being overdone. They reminded me a lot of the movie/comic book characters.
It’s mostly linear, but well-paced and engaging from start to finish. If you enjoy single-player games with heart, humor, and action, this is absolutely worth playing.
The Last of Us Part II is a emotional sequel. Its storytelling is unflinching, showing both sides of a brutal conflict in a way that makes it hard to label anyone the true villain. Playing as both Ellie and Abby added depth and forced you to question your loyalties. The combat is intense, the world is stunning, and the performances are top-tier. By the end, I just wanted the cycle of violence to end—proof of how deeply the story pulls you in.
The game offers a unique and emotional narrative experience, with strong performances—especially from Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe—and an ambitious story that jumps through key moments in Jodie’s life. I really enjoyed the overall concept and atmosphere, and the connection with Aiden brought some great tension and variety. However, the controls were a major downside. Whether using a keyboard and mouse or a controller, they often felt clunky and unintuitive, pulling me out of the experience. It’s a game worth trying for the story, but the frustrating controls definitely held it back.
Station to Station is a really charming and relaxing game. The concept is pretty easy: building train routes to connect towns and resources. The voxel art style is super cozy, and watching your network come to life is pretty satisfying. It starts off simple, but some of the later challenges can feel almost impossible without super precise planning, which kind of takes away from the chill vibe. Still, if you like puzzle games with a bit of strategy, it's definitely worth checking out. Just be ready to scratch your head a few times.

Update 145: May 2025
Nearly half the year already done and gone.
Duskers is a tense and atmospheric sci-fi strategy game where you explore abandoned ships using command-line controls. Its minimalist design and procedurally generated missions create a uniquely immersive and suspenseful experience.
While the gameplay is engaging at first, missions can start to feel repetitive—often following the same pattern of powering up systems, scanning for threats, and collecting scrap. Combined with some RNG-heavy achievements ( I couldn't find a pattern to which log files were found), it can wear thin over time.
Mythic Ocean is a relaxing and charming visual novel-style adventure where you explore underwater realms and guide gods in shaping a new world. The focus is on thoughtful conversations and light exploration, with no combat or failure states.
Its art style and engaging character dialogue make it a cozy, feel-good experience. While the gameplay loop can feel repetitive, the narrative choices and serene atmosphere make it a unique and heartwarming indie gem.
The Bookwalker is a creative, story-driven adventure where you dive into different book worlds to recover mythical artifacts. Each chapter has a distinct setting, with some more engaging than others, leading to an uneven—but overall interesting—experience.
The mix of exploration, light puzzles, and simple turn-based combat supports the narrative well, though the gameplay can feel a bit shallow.
Color Pixel Heroes – Expansion Pack 2 offers a sizable collection of new pixel art images. However, the expansion's quality varies, with many images differing only by minor details, such as a raised eyebrow, leading to a sense of repetition. This lack of distinctiveness can make the content feel bloated and less engaging over time. While the core coloring mechanics are still smooth and relaxing, the expansion doesn't significantly enhance the base game's experience. You might find it underwhelming.
Escape offers an engaging narrative filled with mystery and intrigue, drawing players into its unfolding story. The game's atmosphere and plot twists keep the experience compelling. However, progression can occasionally be unclear, leading to moments of confusion about the next steps. Also there was one monument that when trying to read it had each letter appear one by one. It took nearly 20 minutes for the whole text to appear. And I tried it twice. Though that was the only time this happened in the game it was annoying. Could not quit out of that and had to hard quit the game.
Cute Visual Novel about an Indian immigrant family in Canada, about their struggles finding a job and how it is hard to adjust to life in a new country and how the second generation has it hard, trying to adjust the new identity with their more traditional family values. Overall a fun game that has little cooking sections breaking up the story.
