Update 146: June 2025
Half the year is done and I don’t know where the time has gone. Played some great story driven games this month.
I found the game surprisingly fun. It's a story-driven action game that delivers way more than you'd expect from a licensed title. You play as Star-Lord, leading the iconic crew through a galaxy-spanning adventure full of banter, heartfelt moments, and stylish combat.
I loved the combat. You control Peter directly but can command your teammates mid-fight, creating satisfying combo attacks. The game keeps things fresh with ability upgrades, varied enemies, and the 80s-fueled “huddle” mechanic.
The writing is strong, with great character dynamics that feel authentic and funny without being overdone. They reminded me a lot of the movie/comic book characters.
It’s mostly linear, but well-paced and engaging from start to finish. If you enjoy single-player games with heart, humor, and action, this is absolutely worth playing.
The Last of Us Part II is a emotional sequel. Its storytelling is unflinching, showing both sides of a brutal conflict in a way that makes it hard to label anyone the true villain. Playing as both Ellie and Abby added depth and forced you to question your loyalties. The combat is intense, the world is stunning, and the performances are top-tier. By the end, I just wanted the cycle of violence to end—proof of how deeply the story pulls you in.
The game offers a unique and emotional narrative experience, with strong performances—especially from Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe—and an ambitious story that jumps through key moments in Jodie’s life. I really enjoyed the overall concept and atmosphere, and the connection with Aiden brought some great tension and variety. However, the controls were a major downside. Whether using a keyboard and mouse or a controller, they often felt clunky and unintuitive, pulling me out of the experience. It’s a game worth trying for the story, but the frustrating controls definitely held it back.
Station to Station is a really charming and relaxing game. The concept is pretty easy: building train routes to connect towns and resources. The voxel art style is super cozy, and watching your network come to life is pretty satisfying. It starts off simple, but some of the later challenges can feel almost impossible without super precise planning, which kind of takes away from the chill vibe. Still, if you like puzzle games with a bit of strategy, it's definitely worth checking out. Just be ready to scratch your head a few times.
