I’ve been here for quite some time and I think I can finally start posting things since I have almost finished at least one kind of a list.
I started with negatives and I’ve been slowly working on them, for around 4 years. That’s also the time around I enacted my great purge (I permanently deleted ~400 games from my library via Steam Support). I did that because I don’t like to see something that’s not even a game in my library. Not every one of them was like that of course but I also deleted ones I thought that don’t worth my time. I used to (8-10 years ago) activate almost every key from bundles but with time they became an unwanted flock. Before they become a bigger obsession, I sent them to the shadow realm. I know they are not exactly permanently deleted but at least I don’t see them anymore which is enough for me. There is a saying here “Gözden ırak gönülden ırak”, roughly translates as “Away from eyes, away from heart”. Though Google Translate says “Out of sight, out of mind”, guess this has a better meaning in English but it loses the literature part. Anyway this exactly describes my situation.

I divided the ones I didn’t delete into two parts, which you can see in my lists. I try to give a chance to every game I didn’t delete but sadly there are games with overwhelmingly positive rating that I didn’t like. At least I tried them and know what kind of games they are. I feel like there are still games to delete but some of them cannot be deleted alone (Steam only allows you to delete games as packages, so if you bought them as a 3 games package, you cannot delete only one of them), because of this there are some games I couldn’t delete. Anyway, the lists are “Never Again” and “Leave in the Past”. I did this as a note for my future self, because I know I will forget (for reasons) some of them and will try to give a chance again (big mistake). So with the help of BLAEO, I will have a reminder to not to do that again. Never again means, “don’t play them ever” as it figures while “Leave in the past” is more like for dated games I used to play, but they still in the red group.

After around 30 games to test, I will finally finish my 4 years work and my backlog will finally be an organized backlog. :)

Yes out of sight out of mind. I’ve been questioned many times on deleting things rather then hiding but that’s why. If its hidden I’m gonna know they are there still.

Glad you’ve been able to sort things out for yourself. I know someone else on this site who decided to do the whole test out every game thing, I’m not sure if they actually bothered to do anything like you though. At least that way you narrow all your games down knowing which ones you do want to continue, making your backlog seem a whole lot shorter. Won’t seem so stressful when you got a short list

Thank you! It’s been a mental burden for some time, it actually feels good to get rid of them.

Well, I also write ProtonDB reports so it’s kinda “two birds one stone” thing. I’m happy to finally narrowed them down, though I’m still probably gonna catch up in the next decade. :)

Yes, it feels great to delete games from your library– I’m a big fan of it! There are a few more I should probably delete…
Even if you’ve been here for a while, welcome to BLAEO!
Also, I noticed a small typo on your Steam profile– ‘quiter’ –> ‘quieter’. :)

Mitsukuni

Thanks, it definitely feels great.
Oh my, that typo is there for years! Thanks for the heads up. :)

Cece09

Just pretend you meant it as, the more you quit, the more you will hear about how much of a quiter you are

Mitsukuni

Hahaha, that’s a nice advise.
