June & July 2021 Beaten - Completed & Played Games

I wanted make one thread for two months because in June i could only finish Cloudpunk which is an awesome game. It is a naritive driven, story oriented, driver simulator. I usually dont like voxel type of games but i didnt mind with this one. I dont want to spoil it anything at all so i will only say if you like indie games this is a must have! Also in June i tried ENSLAVED™: Odyssey to the West™ Premium Edition but i dont like the fov, it makes me nauses so i dropped it. Maybe i will try in the future.
In July though i finished a couple more. All of them was newly bought so no backlog proggression. :p
First game i will mention is Death’s Door. It is a new published game and i bought day one because it has everything i like. Zelda and Souls like features combined together. Also a bit of grim and weird world adds up some spice. What i like the most is game feels so polished and attetion to detail is so cool. Definetly a recommend from me.
Second one is Bladed Fury which was a long time followed game for me so i decided to buy last sale. There is not much to say about it. It is 2D side scroller with mostly combat. It is a Chinese game and i get to think i feel so disconnected to those games maybe it is because translation usually bad. It is an okay game for its price. Don’t expect anything though.
Third one was a free given game. Gato Roboto is a kinda metroidvania 2d side scroller where you play as a cat and you put on mecha suits time to time. It is a fairly short and enjoyable game. If you get it for free as i am, definetly make some time for it.
Last finished game Foregone. To be honest i dont know what to think about this game. It is nothing special. Similar art style to Dead Cells but it doesnt have anything else in common so dont get that idea. It is also a 2d side scroller (this month’s theme is 2d side scroller i guess :D) and it is not a metroidvania. You progress in a linear fashion. Also there is a loot aspect with no real impact to game. Story is boring, gameplay is average. I was kinda expecting this when i bought this but it still feels below average quality.

As played games i also bought Iratus: Lord of the Dead. It is not exactly what i was expecting. I bought it to thinking it will be a Darkest Dungeon clone but progression is different. It is like a rouge like but it is not a the same time. It is easy to pick and play also fun to play to as well. It is just not a solo playable for me. It will need a couple of times to finish too. So i will play it slowly over the time.
The current game i am playing is Surge 2. It is a gift from lmxn (AKA Doc) from SG server. I am probably past half of the game but why did they even make this game is beyond me. Feels so uninspired. I mean i liked the first one. It is not really amazing but it was different enough to make it enjoyable and had way less problems with it. Normally i am a lucky guy with games and bugs dont come often. But with this every corner has a bug. Also FPS issues makes it even harder to play since it is a souls like. I really dont like level desing and especially boss designs. It is a pretty bad game for its league, i cant recommend it. Maybe my opinion will change after i finish but i dont think so. :/

Death’s Door is held in high regard by a lot of people I heard talking about it. Not my cup of tea, but it’s always nice to see smaller developers have some success.

A (RL) friend of mine played The Surge 2 for some time, but he was equally unimpressed with the game. Good luck with finishing it!

Yeah i like it too, to see when indie developers with passion get the attention they deserve. I hope they can make more stuff because i really like game developers who pays really close attention to their work.

On the other hand Surge guys makes me sad because there is so much wasted potential there. I feel like AA class is the hardest part to make games. You have the idea but you need to make more sacrifices. Biomutant suffers from the same thing.

Vito

Yeah, I’ve heard that people were pretty hyped about Biomutant but it turned out to be rather mediocre…
