The Gentleman Ducky

Again, I’m pretty far behind with this update, as I’m almost done with Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.

First off, is Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Assassin’s Creed has been getting a lot of flak recently since the release of Unity and rightfully so. Syndicate is a good attempt at damage control but it does not compare to Ezio’s series. The game features new ideas like controlling two twin assassins, riding carriages and gang-wars for the control of London’s boroughs but this installment comes with its own share of bugs. I faced several crashes mostly at the end of a sequence and driving a carriage cause major stuttering (my FPS would drop to single digits). I had to lock my FPS to overcome that bug. But despite this, I still had quite a lot of fun with it. The story isn’t the best but it kept me entertained and the characters were actually interesting enough for me to like them, also featuring famous characters from that time, like Charles Darwin and Karl Marx among others. London looked beautiful and the soundtrack was really great. Even the out of Animus story was good, though a bit sparse. Honestly, the game is a major improvement over Unity and fans of AC would generally enjoy but without comparing it to Unity, I’d say it is about a 7 out of 10.

Set 150 years in the future, ENSLAVED™: Odyssey to the West™ Premium Edition tells the story of Monkey and Trip who must navigate through a world destroyed by ‘Mechs’, and get Trip back to her village. The game is a 3rd person hack and slash where you control Monkey, who’s basically the acrobatic muscle, and get help from Trip, who’s quite good with tech. Their isn’t much gameplay-wise to set it apart from other games of its type but Enslaved tells a great story and shows beautiful colors and scenery. There’s also DLC telling the story of Pigsy in search of a friend, which is very humorous and is more stealth-focused. All in all, it is a good game to spend some time on even though collecting the tech orbs is a pain.

After we’re done with Mordor, I’ll be playing my first horror game, SOMA.

I enjoyed Syndicate myself over a year ago. It was part of the PS4 Bundle I bought and I thought it was a nice AC game. But can’t compare it to Unity and Rogue as those are the two games I haven’t played from the franchise ;)
With which character have you played most? I was frustrated in a few missions that I have to play with him although I did most of the things with her. Mainly because she looks better ;) and she has more stealth abilities. Fitted best with my play style.
I liked the idea that you can play the game differently, depending who you chose.

Enslaved was a pleasant surprised to me. And it was funny how the characters react to certain structures from our world and can’t imagine what to do with them. Like the “Metal Tower”.

The Gentleman Ducky

In the beginning, I played as both of them equally until I got Evie’s ability to camouflage when not moving, it made for some really interesting gameplay.

It was especially funny when Pigsy asked Monkey if he knew what ice cream was. XD

ENSLAVED has always looked so cool to me. I would probably suck at it, so I’m probably better off watching a full gameplay playlist or maybe just all of the cutscenes.
Good luck with SOMA– I can’t wait to play it myself (it’s on my itching to play list).

The Gentleman Ducky

Enslaved is actually not that hard. I played it on hard the first time through and only had some difficulty in the beginning. Once, you start upgrading your character the game becomes easier.
You’ve got some awesome games on your list. I don’t play horror games at all but this was highly recommended so, I’ll give it a shot.

I’m just pretty bad at action games…anything where you have to shoot, dodge, block, do combos, etc. Maybe I’ll check out the let’s plays and see if I stand a chance. Does Enslaved have an Easy setting? :P

The Gentleman Ducky

Yes, it does have an easy mode.

Looking forward to play more of AC - I’ve finished last the Liberty game with the girl and before that ACIII, so pirates next!

I have played Enslaved. Probably half of it anyway. I liked the game and the story so far. Sadly my gaming sickness kicked in every time I played it, approximately after half an hour, latest after an hour. So it was a slow progress and I guess that’s why I stopped it at some point completely. It’s rather difficult to stay with a game that’s so difficult to enjoy, even if you enjoy it :D
Hope I can give it at some point another try :)

Have fun with SOMA!
And happy (backlog) killing :)

The Gentleman Ducky

Black Flag is amazing. You’ll definitely enjoy it. It’s original and different to what I was used to when it came to Assassin’s.

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully, you’ll manage to finish it.

Thanks! I’ve started SOMA and so far it has managed to creep me out. :P

I love them Assassins… and then a pirate Assassin…. <3

Haha, I guess that’s what SOMA is supposed to do, right?
Horror Movies are already bad enough for me, but freaking out while gaming? Na, don’t need that more than normal games can already do that :D
But have much fun with it :D

The Gentleman Ducky

I don’t usually play horror games but I felt I was missing out by not trying. Only an hour so far, but I’m having fun.

ninglor03

Well one has to try sometimes new thing, right? So why not a bit horror :D

Enslaved was such a good game. I remember it being a huge surprise hit for me (top 3 games of 2010).

The Gentleman Ducky

It is definitely better than what I expected at first glance. It has surprisingly good story and relatable characters which is what made me really like it.

I love enslaved too. The control/camera is a bit pain to get use to but it’s still very good. DLC stealth/shooting is what i am bad at though.

The Gentleman Ducky

The camera is the reason I used a controller for it because it was too janky on kbm. I died several times in the same spot because I suck at stealth.
