Third week of March

Oh boy I made a mistake but also a great decision. So I got me a sweet sweet PC upgrade - i9 9900k, 32GB of RAM, new cooler and a Z390 motherboard, but turns out there are no working USB drivers for Z390 for Windows 7. RIP my good old 4 year old install that had so many stuff and so many save files :( So now I am stuck using Linux only which is not all that bad and I have been using Linux only on my laptop for the past 3 or 4 years anyways but let me say setting up Linux that it works fine on a shitty low end laptop -> piss easy, setting up Linux on a multiple monitor setup on higher end hardware -> huge pain in the fucking ass. Halp.

Completed games

The Mean Greens - Plastic Warfare
Playtime: 20.3 hours
Achievements: 24 of 24 (100%)
Review: A surprisingly fun third person shooter where you get the murder other toy soldiers on a verity of maps and game modes with 5 different guns - a rifle, sniper, shotgun, RPG and flame thrower. The flamethrower and shotgun are quite unsatisfying to use, but the rest of the weapons are fine.
Slash It 2
Playtime: 2.8 hours
Achievements: 303 of 303 (100%)
Review: Congrats to this game to be the first one where I didn't mute the music since I have beaten Submerged over one year ago. I would prefer some had dance music over the generic EDM, but not many people would wanna enter the World of Madness so I can't blame them. The game itself is an improvement over the 1st one and I had fun with it.

Slash It 1 gave me like the world’s worst migrane - is Slash It 2 less… like that? I’ve been afraid to play it.

MouseWithBeer

Hmmm depends on the reason you got the migraine in the first place as I didn’t have any such problems with the first one :/

tsupertsundere

I think it was all the pulsing colors and how fast it was.

Then I am afraid it still is an issue :(

Sorry about the upgrade woes! I finally got a newer CPU in January, and it was also a bit of a nightmare, but it was still only a 7700, so I could find drivers no problem, but I had to patch out the update that kills windows updates for Kaby lake processors. This upgrade came from my company and it included a windows 10 pro key, but I don’t know… windows 7 still feels like my kind of OS. I use windows 10 on my other computers, but it feels a bit like they are trying to copy the apple model of keeping the interface as scaled back and dumb as possible to help people who don’t know how to use computers to well, so everything functionally useful is hidden. Also not crazy about some of the spyware features. I know you can turn these off, but the fact it’s in the DNA of the system doesn’t sit too well with me. So yeah I’ll stick with windows 7 until it actually stops working.

Oh and good job for finishing the mean greens when you had the chance. I got it in the one humble bundle years ago, and tried playing it then, but it was already dead, so I had resigned myself to the idea it would forever be another unfinished MP game. So glad it had a revival. The amount of time it takes to get the achievements is probably about the limit of how long it remains ‘fun’, but I think it was a nice throwback to the good old day of inconsequential lan battles, where no one was keeping track of your score, apart from that one bastard friend who won more than average and liked to remind you.

Yea if I would have gotten a little bit more “lower” level motherboard I would still be able to use Windows 7 as well, but oh well, should have checked before buying I guess. I just really didn’t think USB ports would ever be an issue. The update thing wouldn’t bother me at all as my Windows install wasn’t updated since 2016 anyways (yea yea I know, security risks blah blah blah) and you can manually do the updates or download a tool someone put on Github to do it for you.

Oh yes! I work in IT, I don’t need an OS tell me how my user experience must be, I need an OS that will do whatever I tell it to do, even if that means it will cripple itself.

Don’t even get me started on this one.

Enjoy it for me as well! It will be missed greatly <3

Thank you!

Same, but I didn’t even bother playing it because I heard it was dead before I did. If I knew SG existed back then I would have probably just given it away, but I am glad I didn’t and got to experience it now :) I hope it will stay alive for a lot longer :)
