July 2020 report

Hello everyone! July looks a bit better in game completion, but they are all longer games that spanned over a few months. New PoP games were selected this month and they look great, want to play them all! :D As always. XD
_____
Please excuse me if you find any mistakes, after I post my report I usually find many of them, but I really read the post a few times before I send it out. X) Feel free to point them out to me. ;)

Enough of small talks and now to the actual assassinations! Good luck in a new month and have a nice time everyone!

The world is on a brink of destruction. Prometheus, once a leader of humanity, is dead and Titans fight each other in order to rule the world. For a hundred years is this war going on, leaving the world and its inhabitants in a miserable state. And now, when only four Titans are left, Furies enter the show! Four girls (Triss, Alex, Meg and Erin) with different skills, traits and personalities decide on saving the world and for that they have to challenge the Immortals. But as they progress in their quest, they become uncertain about the outcome as their beliefs and knowledge get questioned by the Gods. Can they save the world? Is there any future left to fight for?
Grab your friends and see for yourself in this great co-op adventure!

This game is perfect, if I haven't said that yet! :D Although you can play it alone, you would be robbing all the fun from yourself. We have played just two (our main duo was Meg the Sniper and Erine the Engineer) and it was a great experience, I can imagine that playing with three other good friends must be top notch fun. ;)

So, you have four characters, each have different classes and that also means different weapons, armors and skills. They level up as you use them, giving bonuses to your health, damage etc. The bonuses you have opened with one character apply to the others, so when you switch your high class character for undeveloped one, you will not lose those sweet bonuses! It's certainly a good idea to level up all of them, because some of the fights can get pretty intense and different sets of skills can save the day (if you are playing alone or in duo of course). As I said, each skill is different, but they are designed to cooperate together. Like this you can create nice combos, one of you throws enemies into the air and the other one strikes them for an air crit damage. Of course you can create situations when you are a nuisance to your co-player too, when one throws in a turret with some attack radius and you on the other hand throw every enemy away from the radius leaving the turret without any work to do. XD
As your skills and gear develops I recommend switching them in order to gain the highest level. Truth is, some of them were really hard to master, but it's worth it. For difficult fight or those against bosses we would usually switch out gear to the best ones, with high damage and easy control.

There is a big cast of enemies and the fight changes a lot as new ones are introduced. Of course that later in the game they repeat themselves, but the fights are rather challenging and there are even traps, mines and other twists that keep the encounters very enjoyable. Levels differ from each other and you have to adapt quickly. Good thing is that your attacks can't hurt each other (there is one exception when you can hurt yourself), so you are safe and you can shoot all around you. Added twist in fights are color barriers which are the same as yours and that means that only the one with the right color can hurt it and put the barrier down, co-operation is crucial to not let the other be overrun with enemies. If one of you "dies" the other one can perform revive (the downed player can still move around, so he can get closer for the help!), if the fight is too hot it's good to wait till the one down gets on 99% as you can die quickly when trying to revive as all of the enemies hunt you down now.

To stop the war, Furies need to defeat the four remaining Titans. Each one of them is hiding in a different part of the world. Only the leader (the one hosting the game) can move on the map and select the levels. The road is quite linear as it's the quest for saving the world. But don't be so quick running through the levels and map, there are secrets to be learned, treasures to uncover. And this hunt for secrets is truly challenging and big fun! Because in FMF you are not bound only to the in game, you have to step out and take a broader look on the riddles to find the solutions. It can be hard, but it's fun trying to solve it yourself so don't give up easily. ;)

Story with a little touch of various mythologies is absolutely awesome! The characters are interesting and nicely written, their interaction offers great fun (especially evening calls XD). Whole story has a great pace and offers some great twists and surprises.
Furies also have their camp where you can rest, change your gear, buy new things, try your skills, form a music band and pat (or shoot) a cat! :D
The pixel graphic suits the game very well, each world has unique design and each character has a nice variation of movements and poses. Another great part of the game, if not superb, is the soundtrack! It's really really great, very catchy and enjoyable.

I have only one thing that bothered us. As I was talking about the mines, they have an area effect which you can see so you have to stay clear of it when it detonates. When you are on either side it's fine, but when you are standing above them, even if not in the area, you get hurt by the detonation… not sure if it was intended, but it was rather frustrating when you got cornered by enemies above those traps...

This is probably the best LEGO game! We had so much fun! :D

Story is following that of a book by J.R.R. Tolkien and respectively that of movies by Peter Jackson. There are almost exactly the same scenes from the movies touched with a LEGO silliness and humor and it's a great fun to take part in them! The biggest positive point is probably the official music by Howard Shore and actual movie dialogs used in the game! It adds great feeling to the game. <3
Sadly the game ends abruptly after the second movie, after Smaug flies toward Lake-town. So, one my part is sad that we couldn't have continued on our journey and see the big finale, on the other hand my second part is also glad that we don't have to watch the upcoming tragedy! o.O

The cast of characters is vast and you can pick the most iconic characters (Gandalf, Sauron, Saruman, Bilbo, Thorin…) or just some little goblin to play with. World is really huge and there are a lot of things to do - caves to explore, challenges to beat! Story missions are great and when replaying for collecting stuff you can select from multiple checkpoints, you can even see what you missed there before. ;)

Except for collecting studs, you can now collect resources like crystals, food, wood, rocks and then create things from it. The building mini-game is very nicely done, although it's pretty challenging to complete it without any mistake, although the better you do the more studs you get! You also collect Mithril bricks, from them you create special shiny gear in forging mini-game, they give you ultimate skills or silly powers, like when you see everyone as skeletons. There is a lot of gear to choose from and some of them offer great silly, funny skills or just random things like singing shield which sing all the time. Really, until you live it you can't understand the silliness. XD We laughed so much combining the gear and doing silly things. :D

There is no flying sadly just riding, I really wanted to fly with Smaug. X) During our gameplay we encountered one bug, which proved to be a little annoying, but we were able to solve it in the end. It also crashed on us two or three times. Sometimes the camera angle was stupid, but mostly for me as I was playing on keyboard, my soulmate on controller didn’t have any problems with it.. And again, Red brick settings don't save so each time you play you have to set them anew.

Even all those little negative points don't bring the game down. It's a great funny game, especially in co-op. If the new LEGO Star Wars game will be like that, it would be super duper! :D

Van Helsing (I have almost beaten it for PoP challenge, I am like three chapters from the end), Cloud Meadow and Summer in Mara were started and also played during June.

Added Bilbo. :)

I have also won DLC for Jurassic World. Summer sale!!! Other acquisitions.
My ABC plan contains many unfinished games because I would like to complete them before starting new ones, this is my huge problem. ;) This plan should help me with it.
  • So for the purpose of this list, only games marked as completed counts - until said otherwise.
  • Games can be played in whichever order.
  • Unfinished games will be restarted or continued.

How’s Summer in Mara going? That’s one of my wishlisted games but I’m not sure if I should get it during the next sale.

Kyrrelin

I enjoy it very much. :)
You have your own island to take care of - you can build various structures, plant vegetables and even various trees, also you take care of animals (there are three for now, but I can imagine it could be even more of them) and many other things. I like to set sail and explore the vast seas, as there is always something new to find, also it’s rather essential for your income as you can harvest food and other resources which you can than turn into something more useful or valuable.

Story is fine and I have not seen it whole yet, as I like to explore and I don’t rush through the story line. Characters are nice, I enjoy learning more about them through their personal quests, but there could have been varied interaction with them (especially after completing those quests).

Quests are of “fetching types” when you do deliveries for them or they send you somewhere. I don’t really mind, as the idea of the game is about Koa helping others… and I usually pick quests and do something different and after I feel like it I deliver it, but I can understand why some of the players are bored by it. Not me though. ;)

Animation is nice and music very pleasant. There are some few bugs and I think one or two achievements can’t be opened as for now. But I am sure (= I hope) that developers are working on it and will make some update soon. ;)

Thanks for the long explanation! This makes me want to get the game as soon as possible as it sounds like my kind of game. :D

Kyrrelin

Haha, you are welcome! :)
I hope you will have fun in Mara if you decide to grab it. ;)

I will as soon as it goes on sale ^_^
