October 2020 Progress Report (my first month here!)
The Main Course. These games I started and beat within this month (a little flexible):
Figment - I found it difficult to get into, but once I did I enjoyed it. Not a favorite but not wasted time. I finished 100% achievements and felt like I saw all or nearly all there was to see.
Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones - Really difficult to get into. This game is unfinished by developers and rough around the edges, but still was enjoyable and had some things I really liked (which makes me wish I was able to see it as an actually polished product). I’m using in-game console codes for subsequent playthroughs to mop up some achievements and poke in some unseen corners when I have some time, but I don’t plan to 100%.
The Council - Pretty good! I did 100% achievements, but there was a lot in the game I still didn’t see because there are only achievements for taking different paths in the first episode. I don’t plan to keep poking through it though.
Leftovers. Games where I did most of the heavy lifting before but got around to beating in this month.
Splasher - This game was a huge relief to get done. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but it was much more challenging for me than most games I play (plus a controller is recommended and I don’t have one) so I kept getting frustrated and setting it down for a while. Was stuck on the literal last level for a while, but finally beat it! If I had unlimited time, I would definitely keep at it and go for 100% but I just don’t and it’ll be more satisfying to beat a bunch of other games in that time instead of sticking on this one. Highly recommended.
KNIGHTS - Another game where I stalled out on the final levels. More of a puzzle game this one and it was less intrinsically fun to me and not as much the challenge that was stopping me. Still glad to get it done though. Don’t think I will 100% it even though that would only require doing some daily levels.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Justine) - I had already beat the main TDD story, but just got around to running through Justine a few times. Worth it, recommended. I got 100% of the Justine achievements, but haven’t got all from the main game and probably will leave it here.
A Light Snack. Some very short indie games that technically count towards numbers of beaten games!
The Night Fisherman.
The Imaginary Leviathan. Impressive atmosphere.
My Friend is A Raven. Highly recommend this. Even if you just get the Bad Ending (which you will probably get first time if you don’t use a guide). Great experience, will take hardly any of your time.
Dessert.
For the last week or so I’ve been playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 and kicking myself for not playing it sooner. I absolutely love this game, I want to 100% achievements and I am going to spend so much time on it. I’ll probably set it aside in a few more days so I can check off some other games for challenges and such, but man. It’s good.
