July 2018
Weekly updates aren’t working anymore so from now on I’ll do them monthly. I’m happy if I at least finish some games in a month :’D Girlfriends are very time consuming you know? But the time with her is worth it :^) Also the weather in my country is really nice rn. We didn’t have such a nice summer like this one since 2008 (I freaking love the heat o(^.^)o ) and I relax outside a lot, playing old games on my DS again (cried a lot with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon) or crochet.
Until next month! ( ◠‿◠ )

The Curse of Monkey Island
This was my very first Monkey Island game, it also was my very first video game after Pokémon iirc. Hence the nostalgia was very strong with one. As soon as I figured it made it's way on steam it was an insta buy. And I fell in love with it's music and art design again. Darn I love this game.
Remember the days when you only had one, maybe two games to play? Yes it's that long ago since I played Monkey Island 3 the last time. Still I remembered surprisingly pretty much and managed to solve the puzzles without much thinking. Probably because I played it over and over again back then (because I hadn't anything else to play)... The puzzles I couldn't remember tho weren't that though either. Maybe I just learned how to think like Lucas Arts :'D
The only thing I miss in MI 3 is a good ending like in the other two parts. The game ends rather quickly with a really short cutscene without speech, then the credits roll. After the credits a new game is teased (MI 4 was already released in the meantime) and the game closes itself. The cutscenes fell short in general when I think about it... Which isn't much of a problem because I like to talk to everyone as much as I can anyway and solving the puzzles much more than watch the story progress with cutscenes :b Only the ending bothers me...
Well, as I finished MI3, I thought about replaying Simon the Sorcerer which I played about the same time as MI. I just found out that Steam offers these games too but the reviews aren't that good... Anyone already tried out the 25 years anniversary edition? Or maybe I'll just search my basement for the original CD...
Anime Studio Simulator
I thought this of being something like Bakuman where you learn about how anime will be created. Well, the game surely explains some things but not very detailed. In fact the scenes with fun between the five characters are even longer than how creating an anime works. I found this pretty disappointing. Also every problem they face is too easy wiped out. The game starts with money from the grandmother of the main character which would be fine if the scenes had longer conversations but they have not. So instead I would've preferred if they actually would have to work and the VN would explain how much they had to work to even get money to start or anything. Every other problem they come across is solved as easy as this one.
I do like games with management, like a lot. Even if I fail a lot... But what bothered me with this one were the random events and that nearly everything can fail. Like you choose to raise funds for the upcoming week but nothing happens. This happened to me some weeks in a row until I was forced to restart. It's nice that there are so many random events but if they also can fail even with the right answer it gets annoying...
The art was alright – I really liked the CGs, sadly there weren't much. For the characters I can't say much neither as they're pretty stereotypical. They weren't bad, they weren't outstanding and the scenes went far too fast than to actually grow to them.
Overall it was an average journey. I wished for much more of a management VN (like Backstage Pass?) but it wasn't bad. I only got annoyed nearly the end, when I wasn't patient enough anymore, but I'm quite a lazy reader ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
